Don't use the link button. Just copy the URL of an image (right-click menu: copy image location) and paste directly into the editor. It should immediately be converted into an image (if it's recognized as an image).

That link of yours doesn't end in gif, png or jpg, so it's not (automatically) recognized as an image, but rather as a link to a site.

You need: https://media.giphy.com/media/5Zesu5VPNGJlm/giphy.gif

On Giphy use the Copy Link option next to the image, and take the GIF link...

Yes, copying the URL seems to be the best way.  I wrote this in the "Bug Reports" thread last week in response to a similar question - most of it goes over the same stuff you wrote about ·
I've found it's best to right-click the image and copy the URL (or "image address") and then just paste it in your post. You can resize it by dragging a corner of the image and by right-clicking it you get an option to edit the image (align left or add a URL). Copying the URL seems best because dragging the image from another site carries over whatever formatting and style commands may be on the source page, so you may get some large, unnecessary margin around the image or large-size height and width specifications (which happens in the "Counting" thread sometimes). Also, a lot of sites contain images which no longer have conventional image-type suffixes (jpg, gif, png) A lot of them have odd extensions like gifv, webp, which the RP editor cannot render sometimes.

Worked here from your link (the link should change immediately into an image). Also try the Preview before posting. To see if it really works.

PS: If you know HTML, you can click the first (left) button in the editor and look under the hood. Click it again to see what stuff looks like...

Yeah, something is obviously wrong the way I'm doing it. When I select the "link" button, a box pops up for me to enter the link. I did that and it didn't work. Then, I tried directly posting the link, but it won't even show me the preview, and still shows up as a link and not an image. Computers hate me.

So it does require a photo hosted on a website.  That's what I thought, but thought there might be another way that I was missing. Thanks!

Yup. Usually you can find the image you want by googling. For everything else, there are places like imgur.com where you can put an image and then link to it.

Just a quick question. Now that the old app is gone for comments on the songs and it is now basically redirecting us to the website, I see how some folks post photos in the comments. I thought I was pretty internet savvy, but I don't see photos as an option when writing a comment. Is it just done by posting a link to a photo? And doesn't that require having that photo posted on its own page somewhere to link it to?

Thanks for the help?

Just post an image URL/Link, such as "https://img.radioparadise.com/covers/l/B005TQVW8O.jpg" (without quotes) and it will automagically be changed into the image (but only if the link ends in a familiar image extension like .jpg, .gif or .png):
If you click on the image (after it's been inserted) you can resize and delete it.
