There's always kindle... write your departing monologue and then sell it here for a buck. That's what I'm going to do. You saying I won't?

This is what makes RP stand out from all others. If it wasn't for Bill's talent creating set lists, this would be just another music station. Bill & Rebecca make it the special Paradise it is, 14 years running for me.

I haven't found a better Internet radio station than RP but obviously others feel differently. I think it's natural to check out other stations and services: how many of us stuck exclusively to one FM station back in the day?

Sums up my thoughts exactly. I've tried several times to create a 'perfect' station on Pandora but it just doesn't work; the flow is all wrong. Most Internet radio stations are either too narrow or too random to hold my interest for long. Radio Caroline in the UK is my other favourite Internet radio station- live DJs most of the time and recommended if you're into album rock.

RP plays stuff I don't care for such as (most) indie folk and slow, country-tinged 'Americana'. But these styles fit in well with the mostly mellow, laid-back vibe of the station and so I tolerate them to hear the good stuff. When RP leans too much in an undesired direction, either hit PSD or simply take a break from listening for an hour. Because the music is crafted stylistically into sets, what you hear in the next hour will almost certainly be radically different to the last.

In terms of alternative DJ mixed Internet radio outlets, I recommend browsing the WFMU archives by song/artist. You're sure to find something that fits your taste there, however obscure

I'm sure it's a fine line that the Goldsmiths walk. IIRC, there's sort of a sub-station here that streams submitted songs.

My RP listening patterns wax and wane, roughly following Bill's introduction of new playlists and artists. If BJ is still reading, I'd encourage him/her to take a break from RP for a few months and then tune back in. Bill is not a dummy: he rotates artists in and out of his playlists, so if you're hearing a heavier dose of classic rock artists at one point that's not necessarily a sign of permanent change. When I donated some money a while back and PMed Bill to gripe about the excessive airing of Radiohead songs, he said that the band was in heavier in normal rotation (I think due to a recent release of a Radiohead album).

We all get tired of our favorite stations. No one can hold your interest forever. But when I try streaming services I'm always disappointed by how quickly I get tired of songs selected or annoyed by lack of segue savvy or how uninspired it all feels. And the sound quality can suck hard: I tried Amazon Music Now or whatever the f^$k it's called and the music sounded flat and dim.
