Mixing a unique reading of Ethio-Jazz developed by Mulatu Astatke, Mahmoud Ahmed or Hailu Mergia with post-bop, funk, Afrobeat, dub, Balkan and Asian elements, the Belgian project Black Flower, led by composer and multi-instrumentalist Nathan Daems, began its recording journey in 2014 with the album Abyssinia Afterlife, the first of a series of remarkable efforts including Artifacts (2016) or the EP Intermediate State (2018) and including Magma, published in 2022, is the fifth full-length format to date. © TiVo
