On Charley Patton highway
The mist, the rain, the mud
Somewhere east of Tunica
I'm close to giving up
The car goes round in circles
The road remains the same
For help and consolation
I'll turn it on again
Turn it up
Turn it up

Alone with disconnection
And not a lonesome word
I reach out to the radio
And the clinically disturbed
"Give it up," the man says
Surrender and be saved
He'll drive away your demons
His help is on the way

Turn it up
Oh turn it up!
Ahhhhh, ahhhhh...

I'm lost inside America
I'm turning inside out
I'm turning into someone else
I heard so much about
I'm blinded by the neon
The righteous and the might

I'm stuck inside the radio
Turn it on and let me out

A touch of serendipity
A little stroke of luck
The radio inside this car
Brings guidance from above
The smallest contribution
Will keep me in safe hands
I'm calling 1-800
I ain't leaving it to chance

Turn it up
Turn it up
Ahhhhh, ahhhhh...

Much respect to RAP. Not crazy about this tune, but he’s still a gd good musician — and always trying to stay fresh, even if he doesn’t clear it with me first.

Agreed! 100%!! Yeah, he "ranks" up there with many of those other front men but, IMHO, he's by far, heads above them all!

Mr. Plant will, 1) ALWAYS be "ahead" and, I don't think the man knows the meaning of "quit"!! At 70+, if he can still belt it out, as beautifully and masterfully as the front man for LZ, rock on!

I hear echoes of Mick Jagger describing a preacher requesting money. No longer living in the center of the US, I don't know if the radio preachers still request money in exchange for guarantees of salvation, but this is a great "song". At this point in the evolution of music, the definition of song has become so broad that it's hard to decide what this word means anymore.

But, does it really matter? If it sounds good, turn it up! If not, PSD! This intriguing gentleman just doesn't seem to lose any of his charisma or, his dedication to creating beautiful pieces of musical genius! Certainly aren't many 70 somethings that can still perform the way this guy can!! His other projects.... I'm a bit familiar with but, the collaboration with the most beautiful Allison Krause.... Even with the generational difference between the two, watching their videos, one could nearly say, they were meant to perform together! The Raising sand album.... Damned near as good as any of the LZ stuff! IMHO, of course! They just seem to "compliment" each other's talents and abilities! LLRP! Both, the artist and the station! Thnx again, Bill & crew!

His band include Justin Adams: bendirs, djembe, guitars, tehardant, background vocals; John Baggott: keyboards, loops, moog bass, piano, tabal, background vocals; Juldeh Camara: kologo, ritti, Fulani vocals; Billy Fuller: bass, drum programming, omnichord, upright bass; Dave Smith: drum set; and Liam “Skin” Tyson: banjo, guitar, background vocals.
DAMN!!! Can't say that I'm familiar with any of those gang but, they're almost up there with this man's former bandmates! LZ & co.... Definitely high quality stuff! And yes, Plant RULES!!!! At 70++ no less!

Agreed! I'm torn between this version or the other! They BOTH kick ass!

Hahahaha!

My favorite of all the solo Plant stuff.

Malcolm Reynolds is a gotttDAM good actor.

Before Plant started singing I thought this was another release by the ubiquitous Dan Auerbach.

Random fact: Dan Auerbach briefly lived in the recording studio where The Black Keys made The Big Come Up.

Do you have a problem saying "god damn"? Silly.
Incredible man who refuses to rest on his laurels. Thanks for helping to keep his new stuff alive RP!
thought this was VAST when it first came on.?!?

Jose Gonzalez, Tom Waits, Robert Plant.

Inspired programming Bill. Much appreciated.

The music on this CD ("metalcore") is not my cup of tea, but I thought the cover similarity was interesting.
Everybody in my alien space craft loves this song and this entire marvelous album...
This may be finest album of the year.
Sounds heavy, i like it.

First of his "solo" songs I really enjoyed btw.
Interesting, but it's not one for repeated listening ... it sounds like it could get real old real fast.
The dude sounds awesome still {#Bananajam}
bill— it's all right. but it feels like you play it every day. and it isn't the kind of song you need to hear every day.
His new band is damn STRONG! love it! {#Devil_pimp}
Me likey like!
{#Dancingbanana_2}
Chrissie Hynde's Stockholm and now Plant's  Lullaby... have been wonderful, and perhaps unexpected, gifts to music in 2014.  Both very good!
Bumping 7 —— 8 Its holding up well for me
Positive vibe to this piece (Hhhoooooooopppp  ….     Wwwooooooooooooooooo  !!! good shit man, whoa! and I may feel that way 20 years from now …  )

Agree 7
Has Robert Plant been listening to Nick Cave, Tom Waits? I like this, and always forget its RP until he starts singing.

Always a good thing to have some new Robert Plant. Not a bad tune.
Advice taken.  Consider it turned up Robert.

Agree with your feelings, my friend.  This is good stuff.
Still ticking

Heard an interview with him on NPR while driving into work this am.  He appreciates his past but really is exploring what interests him which is blues/roots/world music.  Kudos for still growing vs. resting on his past.

Well LZ certainly was Blues influenced, so it's not that much of a stretch.

Disjointed, eclectic, just a little bizarre. But, enough about me. I think I like this tune on the first listen! Starts at 7 for me.
