Stumble and fall by the road side
But don't you ever let nobody drag your spirit down
Remember you're walking up to heaven
Don't let nobody turn you around
Walk with the rich, walk with the poor
Learn from everyone, that's what life is for
And don't you let nobody drag your spirit down
Remember you're walking up to heaven
Don't let nobody turn you around
Well I might say things that sound strange to you
And I might preach the gospel, I believe it's true
I won't let nobody drag my spirit down
Yes, I'm walking up to heaven
Won't let nobody turn me around
You might slip, you might slide, you might
Stumble and fall by the road side
But don't you ever let nobody drag your spirit down
Remember you're walking up to heaven
Don't let nobody turn you around
If I never hear this again it won't hurt my feelings.
And if you never post again the feeling is likewise
Blues harp wins an automatic 8.
+1 for atypical beat.
I Agree! GREAT TUNE!! I never heard of him before this, Thanx RP!
Thanks for playing :)
Thanks Putumayo for all the great compilations you have put together. Thanks to Starbucks for putting this collection on the counter.
thank you rp for feeding it to my ears n brian
By weight or by volume?
+1 for atypical beat.
Definitely agree, if you get a chance to see him live, go. He puts on a great show.
It's been 11+ years since I uploaded it. It got accepted immediately, without having to go to LRC, as I remember it. I miss the LRC and uploading songs, actually.
I'm not sure if that's a compliment or an insult.
The original comment was intended as a compliment. EB is a hell of a showman, a consumate performer and an interesting bloke.
He has just not written that track which will be played 100 years from now, but I still have hope.
(That he will, not that I will be there).
He is awesome and he sings the HAPPY BLUES. Need to hear the CAPE.
..... yer not wrong :))
The Moj liketh muchly!
Was vaguely thinking this, based on my limited exposure to Keb Mo. Love the syncopated clip-clopping beat.
*sigh* Picks up socks at arms length and hands them back. *carries on listening*
Don't quite know why either- but I'd say its a 9 fo' sure. Earthy, simple, swingin, heartfelt.
I'm not sure if that's a compliment or an insult.
very cool!
My upload!

Good Blues... Bare bones, start out feeling low and soon...spirits lift...
We're liking "POP" too much over here.
The man just knocks my socks off
Channeling Solomon Burke, Fairfield Four, Blind Boys, Taj Mahal. Dig it.

You're dragging my spirit down.....

:)
I've seen him twice now, he's so chilled, and deeply religious, so if you like this, he's a great night.
Specially if Larry Crockett is on drums.
Seven months later, I hope things are looking up for you, Dirktooth.
You're telling me... My girlfriend was just in here trying to talk to me about something and all I could think about was this coming out of my speakers.
Just wanted to be the first to congratulate you on your impending nuptials and the new 4 door Lexus to accomodate the new bundle of joy the stork is bringing your way.
I just found out the name of Eric Bibb's own album with a live version of this song is on it: "Painting Signs".
"Painting Signs" is Eric's third studio album. Recorded mostly in Tonezone Studios, Kent, England, this album features several new compositions by Eric, as well as tracks written by some of the major influences in American roots music - Rev. Gary Davis, Pop Staples & Jimi Hendrix.
On this album, Eric is joined by bass player/producer Dave Bronze, keyboard player Janne Petersson and Henry Spinetti on the drum stool. Old friends Linda Tillery & The Cultural Heritage Choir provide wonderful backing vocals. The album also includes a live reworking of "Don't Ever Let Nobody Drag Your Spirit Down" featuring Eric duetting with the legendary Wilson Pickett.

this has been the best you played most of this afternoon.

Thank you for visiting Bellingen, NSW, Australia!
We love you, and your art!
LOVE the real thing......this is great!
repetitive, duh? that's the blues form by definition... and annoying? I don't get it.
If you don't like the blues, I can understand "annoying" ...just let the song be, dude.
