I guess you'll find a reason to walk out on me
I guess in time we'll all return to the scene
Awake the old dog in me.

Our love was blind, a love unpretentious and free
Our love was blind, but now my love's leavin' me
Today or tonight you will see

I've got a hopeless memory
that you'll remember me
do not waste your sympathy
it all runs off of me

Though the wind blows you've drawn its call from my sins
God knows rainbows but you seem only too pale
A little or nothing prevails

I've got a timeless melody
that I sing out of key
do not waste your energy
it all runs off of
Me, and you, and everybody
I've got a timeless melody
that I sing out of key
do not waste your energy
it all runs off of
Me, and you, and everybody

Someday you'll say I wish you were here in my arms
til then I'll pray that you'll submit to my charms
Always keep safe from harm
Always keep safe from harm

I've got a loveless melody
so please remember me
do not waste your sympathy
it all runs off of
Me, and you, and everybody
I've got a timeless melody
that I sing out of key
do not waste your energy
it all runs off of
Me, and you, and everybody

I agree. I just rated this an 8 and was happy to see I bumped the average up a point. I like it when that happens {#Smile}

I like this. Sounds good to me, eclectic and rich.
the longer this song went on the less I liked it, though I admire the huevos it takes to put together such dischordant, weird "harmonies"...it's prolly a good thing that Gomez gets airtime on RP, but that doesn't mean that I hafta like it
I just don't get em...I try but nothing.....could it be they're too contrived?
This band/ guy , and this song, is pretty good. But I just can't bring myself to give it higher than a 5 because the voice grates on me.
Does it really need to be that out of tune?

Not dark enough to be PJ. Sure the vocals resemble Eddie Vedder, but the song doesn't. IMHO. I think this is a great tune! Especially the chorus. LOVE IT.
Kids, this sounds nothing like Eddie ...
Wow! There are some chords in there that take five hands and six fingers ... very Hindi-like melding of interlocking atonal chords.
I'm giving it a 9. This is good! If you think that this is atonal you need to get your ears checked... these are very rich and interesting harmonies. Minor chords sound a bit different than major chords... but these guys are hitting all the right notes right on key.

+1 I'm giving this a 10 just to tick people off.
To all the haters:
This is what....some kind of atonal harmonizing? whatever, it sounds horrid.

Oh CHRIST this is painful. What a dirge! What is this - some kind of Amazonian death chant? This is even worse than Oasis ...
I feel your pain but just remember: NOTHING, NO NOTHING IS AS BAD AS OASIS. Not even this. Now that we have that settled, rock on you, me and everybody.
Comin to Bawsten soon !

So there's still a chance I'll get out of the phase?

I agree...did they really think they sounded unique when they made this song?
good.. but no where near Gomez's best
HUGE Robert Palmer overtones, eh?

Too tedious and boring for such a talented band. The entire album is a huge disappointment, especially after the goodness that was "In Our Gun". (Went to see them live during that tour, they were awesome.) It pains me to give this a 4. :(
I like... great singing & harmonies...

How interesting. I can't say I prefer either singer...I think I like the fact that they have three for diversity's sake. Now you're gonna make me go back and listen again for who's singing... Likeable, but nowhere near their top 10.

: a solid 9
Way to go, Bill! I've got a timeless melody!!
im not really impressed by this song.
I had never heard of Gomez before stumbling across RP a few months ago. I like every single Gomez song I've heard on RP. RP really has fueled my already-expensive CD buying habit!

Pretty much agree with this and several other posters. This is a decent album, but nothing nearly as good as the last few. Seems like a lot of the risk taking disappeared during the recording of this album/cd.

Hardly a genius then, what eh?
Their new cd is ok, but i like their older stuff. RP will you play stuff from In Our Gun or Abandoned Shopping Trolley Hotline. Thanks
Pearl Jam of the No Code and Yield era jam w/ Rusted Root. I'll admit the tune is kind of catchy, but it's strictly off the shelf. I give it a 5 but think it will go down in my estimation with repetition.
Always easy to peg a Gomez tune. It does have some PJ qualitites, 'cept I actually like this. ;-)

Most played in 2004?

this does sound a little eddie-ish. i do like the title, if not the tune. :-k
Bill's been spinning several off the new cd, and this is the best of a good bunch.
Sounds like a combination of Grateful Dead and Pearl Jam.
I love it, but every time I hear this band and this guy's voice, I think of that Phillips flat screen TV commercial that played their song, Getting Better...
