Nobody with no one to call
All this time
Hot metal as her clothes disolve
Emergency lights

It's genocide,
It's suicide

I'm spinning round the room in awe
I'm spinning round the room...

I'm floating through a room of halls
Party time
Stops breathing like a china doll
broken eyes

Its genocide,
It's suicide...

I'm spinning round the room in awe
All bloody in the luminol
I'm spinning round the room in awe
In awe, in awe, in awe...

Save my life, save my name
Save my life, save my name

Its genocide,
It's suicide...

I'm floating through a room of halls
All bloody in the luminol
I'm spinning round the room in awe
In awe (x 8)

I heard a story that he once stopped a concert and refused to play again until a guy in the front who'd requested "Summer of '69" was thrown out.  I'm still not sure if that makes him a thin-skinned, self-important d-bag or completely awesome.

One way or the other, he seems to not grasp how to win fans with humor.

Maybe you don't h8 Ryan Adams after all.

Mabye h8ing any musician makes no sense.

I vote "Completely AWESOME."
My kind of music!
A sad song (blues?)... with a kick butt rhythm.

This was the first Ryan Adams song I ever heard and I thought, wow, a great new act.

Unfortunately, I was wrong.

I'd check out Whiskeytown, just in case, before you write RA forever. That band seemed to me to keep his eraticism (not to be confused with eroticism) in check. I hear he writes tons and tons of songs and instead of throwing out the lesser ones he keeps - and records/releases - them all.

"Silent Bob" was on Jay Leno last week pitching his latest directorial effort, and it was downright scary!  He's gotta be north of 350 lbs. at this point, and there's probably no snacks left at Dante's Quick Mart...

What a random Ryan Adams song! Not his best song or album, but I still like just about anything he does...especially now w/ The Cardinals

Not a suitable follow up to See Emily Play from Floyd. Not a good segue at all.
This and Easy Plateau are more than enough proof he's onto something flowing and cool after such a Relic!
I like this.
very catchy tune.

OK, nothing specifically to do with the song, but looking at the album cover, what's with the artists posing with their feet turned in, polio style (no offence intended)?

RA: Impressive, in general. Such a flexible, talented musician producing really varied music. And such a *sweet* voice -

It was part of the "nerd chique" image that I can recall going back to the early days of punk.

Hmmm... I didn't know this album had anything worth listening to on it... thanks for enlightening me.
Luminol: a luminescent bio-detector, used to detect the presence of blood (like at a crime scene). Not a bad song either!
If I was listening to this on an Ipod while running I'd probably have a heart attack.
What's a luminol? luminol IS that stuff that shows up blood under a certain wavelegth of light. blah blah blah blah blah blah blah......
I like this song a lot up until the point he starts signing. It's still decent after that point, but I don't know, not as good.
What's a luminol? is it like a wonderwall?
also not a huge ryan adams fan... but i do love this song.
What an anticlimax to get this after Pink Floyd. Yuck!
I love everything this guy has done...
NOT A BIG RYAN ADAMS FAN, BUT I REALLY DO ENJOY THIS ALBUM. I LIKE THE ROCK!
Aaahhh! The bats! The bats! Save yourselves!
Bit of a Television riff going there.

No thats Oleta Adams!
I will listen to his Whiskeytown material more frequently, but I like most of what is on this CD. I saw Ryan in concert last December and he put on quite a show. He does seem to be emulating the Janis/Jimi/Jim model of a shooting star--streaking brilliantly across the heavens before burning up and self destructing. Sometimes you can't have the first without the second.
Kurt_from_La_Qui wrote:

15 comments, and no one has mentioned that Luminol is the substance that makes blood traces show up?

Curiously, I have found that for every listenable (sometimes brilliant)song Adams releases he records several that are mediocre at best (often garbage). Maybe someday he and his record companies will realize just because he has written it, doesn't mean it needs to be recorded and released for public consumption (or torture).
I found that out the hard way--Two song CD.
