I like get up
With my partner in crime
We love to dress up
And have ourselves a good time
We have an understanding
She can never be mine
We get on so well
There's no pressure on us
It's a relationship
Based entirely on trust
No complications
You will never see me focus
Come around eleven
And it's time to go home
I'm going her way
But I can't leave her alone
But she's looking at me
As If I'm something she owns

Oh
Jane's getting serious (Jane)
Jane's getting serious
Jane's getting serious (Jane)
And I could get serious too

She introduces me
To all her freinds around town
She gets approval
I say I can't stick around
The writing's on the wall
So come around eleven
And we're on our way home
I can't leave her here
But I should leave well alone
Cause she is looking at me
Like I am something she owns

Oh
Jane's getting serious (Jane)
Jane's getting serious
Jane's getting serious (Jane)
And I could get serious too
So I'm pretending I'm not

Caught in between
The devil and the deep blue sea
And I cannot believe
That I would ever admit
That I could take Jane seiously
Come around eleven
We're still on our way home
All dressed up
And nowhere to go
But all along
I should have really known

That
Jane's getting serious (Jane)
Jane's getting serious
Jane's getting serious (Jane)
And I could get serious too
Jane's getting serious...

pete was married to jon's sister at one point.
no relation to rick. interesting.

i love this song.
What a voice !
Bassline - can’t post a comment without removing spellcheck—aaaargh!
Baseline sounds like a slowed down version of “she blinded me with science”.
Yeah, not the same Astley.

Screw the haters  - this song is funny.  You guys probably don't like Stan Ridgway either.
Yea!  Great track. I wonder if the title of this album is a reference to his work as a producer, the bands being the "crew."
was that a dog?... who's dog got loose?

"we're doing this in one take, dog or no dog"

Bill says '..according to Wikipedia, NO'
For the love of God, why can't I spend a buck ninety-nine or whatever to buy this?

Very 80's and fun song.
One of my favorites!
Sounds to me like Elmer Fudd impersonating David Bowie.
Just a fun song.  {#Dancingbanana_2}
Nice production - sounds a lot like what Bowie did on Let's Dance - lots of space.
The perfect pop song...perfectly executed.  Such fun, too.

And subject matter I know something about. {#Mrgreen}

A good jam. Kinda takes you back to a certain time/place, no? {#Cheers}

Aaah, now we're even getting rick-rolled on RP!

RP just introduced a new Internet Meme: We've all been JohnRolled, which sounds WAY worse than a RickRoll

HAHA I think this came out the year I graduated high school!   {#Eek}

Wow!!! This brings back memories.

It's like riding on a roller coaster that's going waaaaayyyy toooooo slowwwwww.
Haven't heard this song in 20 years, and could easily go another 20. Wasn't bad in its day, but pretty horrible now.

Interesting note there... well, perhaps not seeing that he produced some of Clapton's records. Also, Astley was Pete Townshend's brother-in-law at the time of this recording.
\'Always liked this one. Not pushing any musical envelopes but a catchy hook. Got to do something about Jane!
Ahhhh, the 80s. Got to get the mullet going again
OH MY GOD. I am totally surprised by this. RP rules all.

this really sucks
I don't like the song, but it definitely reminds me of David Bowie.
Granted, it's a bit pop-y... and it's obviously 80's, so very dated. But I always liked this song because his voice sounds like David Bowie's.
Nice and flakey, at least a 7. The weird plunky background reminds me of Japan (the 80s popular beat combo, not the country).

I agree with you... liked it then, like it now
Crocky getting nauseous...thees why me leesened to Prog in 80's...

Definitely a guilty pleasure.
it really is a good day for RP.

Hey look... it's another Milwaukee peep! I kinda like this tune... once in a great while, it isn't too bad.
And thus was the prophecy fulfilled ...
Wow, some hostility is aimed at this cut. I dunno, I always liked this song. I liked new wave and this has a good new wave feel to it.
When this spins up I think it's Ric Ocasek or the Cars coming along. It's not. but it's a damn sight better as a palate cleanser after Lindsey Buckingham...
80s synth at its best

Not that it matters, but -- does anybody have any idea whether Jon Astley is related to Rick Astley, who was sort of the male Donna Summer for a while?
Did a quick Google search and it does not look like they are related. But I did see that this is the same Jon Astley who has been responsible for all the Who remasters/reissues.
One of my favorite songs...thanks bill!
Heh, great little pop song from the 80s. Thanks Bill, good to hear songs from the 80s that were actually darn good.

I believe it is Clapton playing the solo.

Yeah, well personally I'm getting XM
Is this, like, David Bowie's evil (or nicer) twin?
now THAT is a drum machine
how 80's not that there's anything wrong with it....
Boy. I haven't heard this song in a million years! It still is a catchy song...
Got my attn - No longer background - Turned up. Got attn. @ work, too, now - where the comments are - Combo of The Cars & David Bowie. Nice!
Yikes! I'm having flashbacks to Greg Stump ski videos. Ah, the Maltese Flamingo...
I bought this when it came out - late 70s I think. The rest of the album was very average, but this is excellent
It was a commercial that I did for Heinz ketchup way back in the day. It had a girl running through a house of mirrors. It seemed to fit at the time. Thanks Bill.
