Billy rapped all night 'bout his suicide
How he'd kick it in the head when he was 25
Don't wanna stay alive when you're 25

Wendy's stealing clothes from unlocked cars
Freddy's got spots from ripping off stars from his face
Funky little boat race
The television man is crazy
Saying we're juvenile delinquent wrecks
Man I need a TV when I've got T. Rex
Hey brother you guessed I'm a dude

All the young dudes
Carry the news
Boogaloo dudes
Carry the news

All the young dudes
Carry the news
Boogaloo dudes
Carry the news

Now Jimmy looking sweet though he dresses like a queen
He can kick like a mule
It's a real mean team
We can love
Oh we can love
And my brother's back at home
With his Beatles and his Stones
We never got if off on that revolution stuff
What a drag
Too many snags
Well I drunk a lot of wine
And I'm feeling fine
Gonna race some cat to bed
Is this concrete all around
Or is it in my head
Oh brother you guessed I'm a dude

All the young dudes
Carry the news
Boogaloo dudes
Carry the news

All the young dudes
Carry the news
Boogaloo dudes
Carry the news

not only the Dudes! But 8 for the memories - and may they hang in there with the things I simply should remember...
All the young dudes turning 'old' over time, getting wrinkles and all... still so inspiring the idea of a potential 'good life'.

Yep, he did write it!  No wonder it sounds so Bowie-ish!

Listening to this on a crappy radio while pretending to do homework. Good times (not really. Now that I think about it, high school sucked).

I'd like to hear 'All the Way to Memphis'. It is another good Hoople song.
A great song from Bowie, by a great singer ; Ian Hunter, Maybe better in a live version with Mick Ronson.

Have to tell you guys that I *saw* Ian on tour just two or three weeks ago at the Fillmore here in SF, and he was *fantastic*.

Every song was great, both new and old, Mott and solo stuff. He has a new album out, and the songwriting on all tracks was first-rate. No weak songs at all during the show.

I saw Bowie sing this song in a small venue in the mid-90s, and I'm super-happy now to have seen Ian sing it himself. It was a great experience.

Always dug this song and liked a lot of their other stuff.

Love it  Remember it  Live it
in his wonderful book " the woman who walked into doors" Roddy Doyle claims that it is impossible to whistle the intro to this, I for one dispute this
I listen it/watch it for first time in The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert.
Of course it's Bowie...that explains the reeking mess that it is!
This song rocked everything back in the day; those heady adolescent days of Thin Lizzy, The Sweet, and Elton John in his early grooves...and I love how Spoon and to a certain degree Arctic Monkeys have re-issued this style so well... Thanks for laying this in here, Bill!
