SUPERB! WNEW FM 102.7 NYC used to play this a lot, right after it was released.

Amazing how musical memories work. I have not heard this piece for at least several decades but instantly knew exactly what I was listening to. Perception of music is somehow embedded in our brains/minds unlike any other mode of communication. Calls to mind those whose language abilities have been destroyed, but who can sing their words.
This is a very good album.
Kind of trippy. Kind of breezy.

For those who remember it on WNEW in the NY area, I believe WFUV uses it as the fadeout on the 5-8 slot on Saturdays.

I've heard better (later) versions of this song, but I still enjoy Paul Winter music. Thanks, RP!

My reaction, listening to it now:
1) It's a fantastic tune. Combined with the title, priceless.
2) I'm really sick of the '70s-sound clarinets - sounds like the theme to something starring Marlo Thomas. The cellos are really lovely, though.
Conclusion: This piece is ripe for a tasteful modern cover. Kronos Quartet, perhaps?

I think it was used in a commercial or as the theme to a PBS show in the 70s?
Sounds like the theme to some lame '70's Family drama.

The Consort can take you to extraordinary places, but this cut, so-so.

One of my favorite DJs (Pete Fornatale - the 10 AM to 2 PM guy) on my favorite Rock and Roll station (WNEW FM in New York City) would always play this song on Fridays as his last song for the week. Thanks Bill and Rebecca.
takes me back, outro for Pete Fornatale RIP https://www.wnyc.org/story/204800-remembering-pete-fornatale/
This is such a good album. Could have picked a better cut, for sure, but I'm delighted to hear Paul Winter!

I think it's from an episode of Little House of the Waltons

That's the funniest thing I've seen in days!! People at my office are looking at me funny...
Wow. That sucked. Not a lot or really bad, but it still sucked. It was like the opening theme to a cheap rip off of Big or something.
2 things I can do without ever hearing again in my life: The words "now I lay me down to sleep" or any variation thereof in lyrics and this song.
That sucked.

YES, it was "background" music - Concert Happenings, perhaps?

One of the all-time favorite radio beds -- instrumentals talked over by djs far and wide. Add it to Booker T.'s "Green Onions," Fleetwood Mac's "Albatross," and ELO's "Fire On High," among many others. I believe it was used as filler back in the late 60s-early 70s on the great WNEW-FM in New York, back when they had news on the hour and djs like Pete Fornatale had to kill some time. Yep, those were the days...records cost $3.98, flying cars were just a pipedream and we used to watch a little box called a teevee. Now pardon me while I call the nurse to get my walker and colostomy bag...and GET OFF MY LAWN, YOU ROTTEN KIDS!
It just seems so normal to hear this song on radio, until I realize I haven't heard it on radio since I lived in NJ 27 years ago and WNEW 102.7 NY was the king of radio (now long gone). Good to hear it again!

Yes, I would like 2 of those purple-quartz crystals, a stick of incense and I'll take this self-help book entitled, "The New Age of Aquarius Indian-Stick Dream-Catcher Weaving."
I LOVE this tune! It's tough to see people write that it was their "Mom's" favorite album, when I still have my copy. Or did I dump it in my recent move?
I'll have to go look. . .
Thanks for playing this, Bill! Always a very uplifting tune and given the fine day in the Bay Area it's an extra lift.

I am extremely surprised to hear this here. I guess I shouldn't be since I have come to expect this kind of diversity from RP. This album was one of my mothers favorites when I was growing up and I still love to listen to it once in a while. Thanks to whomever up uploaded this and to either Rebecca or the folks on the LRC who got it on the playlist. This is why I love this place and will keep tuning in.

It probably is. It's the theme song for "New Dimensions" on the radio, too.

One of the finest instrumentals of its era. Great for background music while contemplating one's own navel.
Wow, I never thought I'd hear Paul Winter here! KEWL!! One of my favorite cuts. Thanks, Bill! Now maybe a little Oregon??
