...but an awful lot of Canadians, particularly on the East, are descendants of Irish and Scots refugees from famines and clearances. Particularly in Nova Scotia (hence the province name). I know for sure that Scots Gaelic is still spoken in Nova Scotia, and indeed a Gaelic teacher of mine, at a summer school, was a young woman from Nova Scotia.

Talk about polar opposites.  {#Good-vibes}

I get johnjconn's and biscobret's anti-sap response, but I can't help it, I'm part Irish, with a last name just a few letters off from the singer's, so I'm taking mutepoint's point of view. She has a lovely voice.  Sip some Bushmill's, all you detractors, take a chill from your death wishes, the tune will sound better.

A Canadian national treasure. Saw her last month at the Arts Centre. Captivating show, great band include Hugh Marsh on violin. He used to play with Bruce Cockburn and fit in nicely here

EEooo, after that "Basement Jaxx" tune, it seems we've hit a rough patch — these tunes have garnered my only sub-5's.  This one, probably not due to its own merits, strikes me as a bit sappy in a not good way; kinda like one of those atrocious Celine Dion "Titanic" numbers.  This one is clearly much more sincere and much less produced, so I'm blaming it on Celine....
