The casual voter is going to mostly look beyond things like this and the cat lady bit, and see his upbringing, military service, education…of course this is all somewhat superficial, but if we had an informed voter base we wouldn’t be where we are now.

not sure what those polls say, other than he's not "popular" or well known.
comments against trump could be construed by those in the middle as positive.
his stance on abortion is probably his biggest strike.

I'm not arguing for Vance and not even familiar with him myself...more so, that I think the dems can do better than Harris...and hope they ultimately do.

Hmm. Might be a tough sell for the middle who are more inclined to believe he pulled himself up, went to a good school, got a good job, and now…

Admittedly based on limited information, I wonder whether Vance is going to come off as a personal fraud (an attack line already being voiced by Dems) to undecided voters. He says he is for the common man or woman and cites his personal history. However, relatively soon after graduating from law school, he chose to work as a venture capitalist.

He has been recommended, hired by, invested with and supported by Peter Thiel every step of the way since leaving Yale (a home in CT for wayward children of "elites").

If he's an example of a "hard-working kid made good".... elites are about as real as unicorns and fairy dust.  I'm sure if you Google it...you'll see he wasn't very good at his jobs until "selling JD" became his profession.  Thiel has been his Godfather since before leaving Yale.

His story-telling skills are his superpower... not building, running, investing, fixing, or buying things.

2 cents.
Accurate or not, but in the eye of the general public, the "casual voter" or those who may be willing to forgive the sins of the past, regardless of how bad, because this one just sounds better...the dems appear to be serving up an easy target for the GOP. Someone whose ability to grab the interest of the uncommitted voter, or whose general likeability (regardless of skill or capabilities)  is suspect...whereas Vance appears more likeable to the general population.

Maybe Obama still has something/one to serve up?

But it really comes down to whoever vs Trump. And the failed real estate salesman has such a list of failures and broken promises and violence that it really doesn’t matter. There is no contest here about whom to vote for if he’s the GOP anointed. And it definitely says a lot about that party that he can usurp its direction.

The First Silicon Valley Election
California Über Alles
With Biden out and Kamala likely in, the Californiazation of the 2024 election looks almost complete. Silicon Valley’s embrace of Trump, along with the selection of Peter Thiel-backed JD Vance as his running mate, already signaled that the home of Big Tech (and “little tech”, but we’ll get to that later) would play a much bigger role in this election than it ever had. Immediately after a bullet grazed Trump’s ear in Butler, Elon Musk took to “X” to endorse him. (Musk has also reportedly been showering the Trump campaign with $45 million in donations per month.) A few days after the assassination attempt, Mark Zuckerberg described Trump’s fist pumping, telegenic “fight, fight, fight” as “one of the most badass things” he’d ever seen. Co-founders of the Silicon Valley venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, spoke about their support for Trump on the presidential election episode of their podcast. Venture capitalist Chamath Palihapitiya, who was a Biden donor during the 2020 election, has recently started hosting fundraisers for Trump; he was also reportedly among those who backed Vance as a candidate for VP. Other big name entrepreneurs like David Sacks are open Trump supporters. But Kamala, who was born in Oakland, is not without her own connections to Silicon Valley. Her brother-in-law, Tony West, is Uber’s chief legal officer.
Pick your fighter oligarch...

I lived in California all my life. Real close to 70 years now. And her record is what you could call weak.
Look it up.
