I think all people are racist on some level. It doesn't mean I deliberately shape my behavior. Deliberately. That I actively check my behavior from time to time is racist and implies racism is a concern. But my brain slots people into categories without my say-so: Names I can't pronounce (ethnicity) or are more than 4 syllables (nationality) or are Cody (hillbilly/hipster or hillbilly-hipster) or seem "made up" (religion) ... If she's saying everyone's brain works like this to some degree, I agree.

in any event, i would not have fired will for that foolish comment alone

we all have made them and it will probably happen again

i would have encouraged him to apologize to directly to pence and biden asap

and then apologize to his employer and readers/followers

cancelling someone over silly speech or orwellian wrong think is wrong and maybe even dangerous

jerry taylor should reevaluate this decision
