I think that most of them are spoiled, hypocritical, outrageously banal, self absorbed and out of touch, but that doesn't mean that they can't do good things every now and then. Kudos to them!

First, The US and what is left of the Haitian Government, signed off on an agreement granting the US control over the airport. That was done to instill some order in the immediate aftermath of this horrible human tragedy. Second, without troops, US or other, it would be impossible to bring order in the chaos that understandably exists. If there is no entity to control traffic, aid won't flow through clogged streets. Please note that when it is all said and done, the US will have provided more troops, more materials, more dollars and more effort, than most other nations, combined. Third, the US Naval vessels are taking on those in need of assistance that only a hospital can provide. In this case, surgical wards and follow-up. That should thwart any suggestions of a lack of aid. Odd, but when something of this magnitude strikes somewhere in the world, someone finds the US a good target for whatever complaints they care to register. Hell, the French have accused the US of being an occupying force. Damn if we do, damn if we don't. But damn it, we always do. And that is something most if not all of our critics cannot claim. This Yank is proud of how his Country, led by his President, has responded without hesitation and with great charity and concern. I really can't be bothered with petty complaints at this moment in time for a people in such dire needs.
