Patti Smith posted an at-home performance of her song âGratefulâ that was dedicated to Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia. Smith wrote the song 25 years ago today, the day Garcia died at the age of 53.
Have you seen any video Dead and Co? I'm still sort of stunned by it all...given the lengths we all went to in order for me to attend the "END".... but ... wow. I have been quite impressed.

Was driving through North Philly. I'd just started a new social work position. It was before cell phones. I remember pulling over on the side of the road, and just sitting there in shock.
I was getting an oil change during my lunch break, and the guys were joking about Jerry Garcia dying. The dead had just played Chicago a bit before then, so I didn't really think anything of it. I had stickers all over my car-- I just let it slide. But then I got in my car and turned on WXRT radio, and they were playing "uncle johns band," I just burst into tears.
Of the 30+ odd shows I attended, I only attempted psychedelics 2x...and neither time was enjoyable (at those 2 shows, otherwise I've enjoyed them ). For the most part, I found the "excessive" or overuse of drugs at shows, annoying.
