Fortunately for me I have the true Sagittarian trait of total mastery of sex drive so being alone has never been an issue with me. I was alone for about 6 years and completely content and then I found someone that was perfect for me by not looking. Dave, you know love is a strange thing - there is no controlling affairs of the heart.  I'm sure you've seen people that have all sorts of things going against them but still, someone falls in love with them.
My brother is an example: in debt, socially unequipped, and looking as if he's pregnant. A wonderful woman fell in love with him. They'd be together but his self esteem is completely destroyed and he feels that he would ultimately hurt her.
Then there's me - I wanted a happily ever after with a man and though I did my best to resist, I fell for another girl like me.

Supa Freak - - Rock on!

Love is a big deal - living without it is tough, and, amongst the billions, when we find people we truly can and do love - then we are that much better, and all the rest becomes minutiae.

Well, anyone who is worth having has more depth than to care about stuff like that and I hope you find one of those people.

There are other ways to meet people. In a large city like Chicago there are hundreds of meetups through meetup.com. They are all over, so there might be some in your area too. I can tell you from personal experience that it is beneficial to have some social interaction, especially if you spend most of your time alone. If you go to every meeting, you get to know the regulars, just like on RP, and it becomes enjoyable. You can hopefully find a meetup of like minded people that you can enjoy.

Life is scary, but it's a lot more fun if you live it. Enjoy the ride!

It's just a ride, it's just a ride
No need to run, no need to hide
It'll take you round and round
Sometimes you're up
Sometimes you're down
It's just a ride, it's just a ride
Don't be scared
Don't hide your eyes
It may feel so real inside
But don't forget it's just a ride

I live in a small, depressed town where people are leaving in droves to find work. In the 5 years I lived here I have found no way to meet a special someone. I've made friends here but it seems its all married people here except for the college kids. I seem to be the only single older person here. The nearest town of any size is about an hour away. I also have a limited drivers license due to a stroke and can't legally drive at night or long distance. I am also now on disability and struggle just to keep up with the house payments (been try to sell for 3 years) so there isn't much money left over for anything fun or going out. I've never been into bars or clubs and am terrible allergic to nicotine (makes my throat swell up) so thats kept me out of those places all my life, not that I would want to meet someone there anyways.
I even tried hosting a Yahell group for local singles here and described the results several posts back...
