Bookmarks in Mozilla-family browsers are stored in a single file called "bookmarks.html". Must be in your profile directory, something like /default/xxxxxxxx.slt/bookmarks.html

The latest Symantec products, as with other software products that try to wrest control of your computer from the OS (like AOL), are very likely culprits.  Since Firefox has become popular, and the "anti-malware malware" programs now "support" it, you can expect them to mess with Firefox as well.  The flip side to that coin is that, while Microsoft goes to great lengths to ensure that it's "Partners" don't bork any Microsoft products, the people who contribute to Firefox don't have anywhere near the massive leverage in the marketplace to ensure that Firefox isn't borked.

The maxim "keep your friends close, and your enemies closer" does not apply to software installations. {#Idea}

Well, thanks for the effort, but it turns out I hadn't lost anything - it might have just been something goofy in Windows, because rebooting solved the problem.  For some reason, whatever state Windows got into, only Firefox was affected - IE still worked.  I could have tried Safari, too, but I did not.

...Okay, a reboot brought Firefox back to functional, more or less normal - bookmarks are back, and it can display pages.  Can't imagine what might have gotten into it.  Not like I was cruising dangerous sites or anything - I was searching my bank's web site pages for some number to call to report a couple of broken ATMs on Sunday, seems I hit a bad link, and everything went black after that.

I upgraded in the alst few days and have to say my computer has not quite been the same since. couple of crashes, just freezing without anything happening for ages, things taking longer to open. I just wish they wouldn't release this crap until they know it works.

Ever since I upgraded to Firefox 3.01, it's been crashing several times a day on me. It especially seems to hate Flickr - every time I try to upload my photos to Flickr, Firefox crashes. The old version never used to do that.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Get the Flickr Uploader?
