Would anybody be interested in sharing their musical influences in the form of a song list. What was formative to your musical tastes? That could be a shared theme for this year's discs.

Go to wetransfer.com and open up a free account.  You can move up to 2 GB at once.  Simply upload the folder it its entirety and then you have a choice of creating a link to the download or you can send a link via email to an individual through wetransfer directly.  You can also add messages to the download with instruction and comments if you like.

The link will then allow you to download the folder and open it up.  IIRC, they are self extracting zip files.  I don't remember since I do more sending than receiving, but so far everyone seems to be able to open them up successfully.

It contains a folder entitled RP 2024 with two folders inside. Melanie and the other is RP MCC 21.  The RP MCC 21 folder is how you would set one up for transfer.  Note that you will have to change the file names with the play order at the beginning so that the recipient will know.  You have to use the format of 01 for track 1, 02 for track 2, etc.

The Melanie folder has a song from an album I ripped last night called Psychotherapy.  It is a really cool live track that captures Melanie in the beginning as a girl with a guitar and a very cool sense of humor and also a snap shot of what was going on at the end of the 60's.  Guaranteed to make you smile. 

You asked about how I must have taken such good care of my albums.  Well there is a boat load of work involved to get to the final product you hear. There is the raw ticks and pops and all the crap  track called before.  The album only got played a couple of times because it was such a shitty pressing and basically sat for the next 45 years until now when I decided to pull it out with the news of her passing.  All the stuff that you hear took about 5 hours and over 600 individual edits of the wav file using a pencil tool like you would use for drawing in a CAD program to get to the fixed final version.  Then another hour to EQ it and do some polishing. I manually redraw the actual wav line and change it to remove ticks and do other things. This way the overall sound is unaffected by automatic programs that can degrade the music. 

Is it worth all the hassle ?  I think so, that and with the way music is released these days there are still tick, pops and glitches in the digital files and on CD's.  So I know how to deal with those from working on the vinyl and get them to where they should be.  This is what I do almost fulltime, when I'm in the mood ... But this is what I have been planning for many years as what to do with the winter years of my life.

So go ahead and download and check it out and see if this would work for you in the future.

Anyone else reading, go for it, too.  The Melanie track is nothing but pure fun.
