I've had Satellite radio for about three years now, and it it wasn't for the Baseball, I would probably go ahead and cancel it, pretty much for the reasons stated in this thread. Radio Paradise has totally changed the way that I listen to music. I find, for the most part that the stations on XM are way to genre and time specific for my tastes. If they'd take about 3-4 of the stations and put them in a blender it would be ok, but to listen to the same stuff over and over again kind of gets old after a short time.

Anyone on the forum dare pay for satellite radio and listen to this great channel?

I've been a satellite subscriber since 2003, I would say the first 2 years were radio Nirvana.  Worldzone, The Loft, XM Cafe, a WOXY'ish Ethel, eclectic Fine Tuning, a deep XMU, and general weirdness on Special X.  But as things change so did the service and all those are gone except The Loft.  It has changed over the years and since the merger with Sirius has taken a more eclectic identity trying to make up for deleting Fine Tuning *uber boo*  It's hard to compare RP to The Loft but if any channel on satellite radio is like RP it's The Loft.  Pretty much when I'm in the car it's The Loft and at/near a computer its RP.

i used to pay for satellite radio...i got xm...but i got tired of the narrowcasting. it was too restrictive..i went over to sirius, and they had a couple of decent channels..disorder was the best, but when they cancelled that one i got me the internet radio unit...much better.
i remember the loft and it was a little sleepy, and a little stuck in the past. what irritated me most was the reptetition on the stations...the coffee house was tolerable until you played it 2 days in a row...same songs in high rotation for months and months....blackbird by the beatles..great song; but bless 'em, the beatles wrote more songs than that one...repeated day after day after day after day.

I'll concur. Satellite radio is well on its way to matching FM for mindless mediocrity, but The Loft is definitely an exception. Mike Marrone does a fine job of programming the station, and they've recently added displaced Sirius hosts Vin Scelsa & Meg Griffin. The station also isn't quite as stuck in a mellow groove as it once was — though there are times when I wish they'd pick up the pace just a tad.
