They had done some logging at this nature preserve, and the main road was completely plowed up and smoothed over.  It looked like it would be great... but the dirt was soft about 5 inches deep!  And just a little muddy, even though it hadn't rained for several days.  It was actually really hard to walk on.  I couldn't imagine how any lumber vehicles could move on it.  Obi was SO dirty (his hair was long), that I carried him right into the house and to the bathtub.

Thanks. It's just off the Skyline Drive. As a matter of fact, at that spot, up that slope on the right is the Drive. But hardly anyone knows about it.

Had a wonderful hike through my favorite forest.  Someone has cleared away all the ice storm debris, so it only took me an hour and a half.

Hooray for the season of no bugs!!!!

I didn't take Obi, I'm so afraid he'll hurt his back on a long hike.
