Hey Grandma, you're so young
Your old man's just a boy
Been a long time this time (pow-pow-pow)
Been a long time this time (pow-pow-pow)
Been a long time this time round, this time round
Everything is upside down, upside down
Sure looking good
You're looking so good
You're sure looking good
SF freak scene was on my mind
Fillmore Slim is just a-wasting time
Well I got high this time (pow-pow-pow)
Well I got high this time (pow-pow-pow)
Well I got high this time round, this time round
Everything is upside down, upside down
Cause your looking good
You're looking so good
You're sure looking good
Robitussin make me feel so fine
Robitussin and Elderberry wine
Hey Grandma
Hey Grandma
Hey Grandma
Hey Grandma...

Never heard this one before, though I must admit I've only ever heard a couple Moby Grape songs. I like 'em. Gotta like the album cover with the middle front guy flipping off the camera.

The Subdudes, now this - I don't think I'll ever stop dancing! Love this song... Who'da thunk it?!
This band showed perfectly well that it takes more than talent, great musicianship and some of the best songs, to make it big.
Diggin' the Grape.

Alas, all too true. As the great Jeff Tamarkin of Goldmine said: "The Grape's saga is one of squandered potential, absurdly misguided decisions, bad luck, blunders and excruciating heartbreak, all set to the tune of some of the greatest rock and roll ever to emerge from San Francisco. Moby Grape could have had it all, but they ended up with nothing, and less."
Their moment was brief, but the music on this album quite good.

They don't make em like that any more...

Man oh man...I saw them so many times. What an excellent band! Put them on the menu w/the Dead, J.Airplane, and the New Riders, and you had the REAL DEAL.

yes, yes they did. Although I think they left the 's' off make, probably because they were drunk on cough syrup.
Did he actually sing' "Robitussin makes me feel so fine."?

I tried to listen to Skip Spence, didn't like his voice—-he was in the line of people who went all the way mad being in permissive scenes with lots of LSD (Syd Barrett, Roky Erickson) who were somewhat legendary in said scenes.
wow, Bubble Puppy would sound really good after this...alas REJECTED!!

No, you're just weird.
Not that there's anything wrong with that!
Hey - I had a Moby Grape album around 1960's or so and when I played it for some of my 'friends' they labeled me wierd; at least my musical taste then. I guess that they just did not understand reasonably good music. Oh well.....

Was wondering when Bill was going to get around to playing this one again. Most Excellent.
I was Sitting by the Window thinking "Hey Grandma! I've got to pick you up on the 8:05 from Omaha."
Moby Grape, I love their music, especially Sitting by the Window... wonderful.

I was commenting on how much that guy in the middle hates that washboard. This, along with "Omaha" and "8:05"—hell, almost anything on the album, is more typical of the Grape than yesterday's "Sitting by the Window." In response to another post below, Spence died years ago, and, yes, he'd been hospitalized for some time after showing up at the recording studio with an axe and asking where Don Stevenson was. Scary shit.

did he say "robitussin makes me feel so fine?"
Ah Moby Grape. What might have been. They have always been one of my favorite SF bands. Way overhyped when they began. Moby Grape '69 is a wonderful roots rock record.
does anyone remember which MG album
"murder in my heart for the judge"
is on?
