We hit the blue fields
(In the blue sedan we didn't get much further)
Just as the Sun was rising in the mist
(We were all alone, we didn't need much more)
So fast this expedition, so vast this heavy load
(With a touch of luck and a sense of need)
Seeing the guns and their faces
(We look around the open shore)
(Waiting for something)

(Shoot high, break low)
(Aim high, shoot low)
(Break high, let go)
(Shoot high, aim low)

This was to be our last ride
(With steel guitar and the love you give me)
Underneath the skin a feeling, a breakdown
(Well, we sat for hours on the crimson sand)
Exchanges in the currency of humans bought and sold
And the leaders seem to lose control
Shall we lose ourselves for a reason?
Shall we burn ourselves for the answer?
(Have we found the place that we're looking for?)
Someone shouted, "open the door", lookout

(Shoot high, break low)
(Aim high, shoot low) feeling of imagination
(Break high, let go)
(Shoot high, aim low)

Let's go

(Shoot high, break low) nothing you can say
(Shoot high, let go) takes me by surprise
(Shoot high, aim low) who says's there's got to be a reason?
(Shoot high, let go) who says there's got to be an answer?
(We were all alone, we didn't need much more)
(Shoot high, aim low) (with the Sun so hard on this endless highway)
(Shoot high, let go)
(Shoot high, aim low)
(Shoot high, aim low)
I've heard the singers, who sing of love
(Shoot high, aim low)
(In the blue sedan we never got much further)
(Shoot high, aim low)

Surreal, cinematic imagery telling intertwined and parallel stories. Genius.
Very happy to hear you playing this, Bill. While not the best of Yes, I really did appreciate the sound Trevor Rabin brought to the group. Big Generator was truly one of his best contributions to any album.
Yeah, yeah, shoot high, aim low. We got it...
why did so many great bands feel the need to release such awful stuff in the 80s? boggles the mind...
Gee, I could never guess who could have possibly uploaded this song. Relayer wrote:
Greatest song ever. Amazing. Trevor Rabin is truely amazing in Yes, and those acid burn-out Yes fans who dislike him are blinded by drug use. Big Generator is Yes' most underrated album. Amazing mix of old and new Yes: harder edge guitars paired with great progressive songwriting. THis album has aged so well.
hmmm....no melody, annoying electronic drum sound, guitar pyrotechnics, castrato vocals....must have been the 80's, yes? This can go back in the molybdenum vault.
I'm going to pretend this isn't a Yes song, since I've always liked the band, and wish to continue to do so. And that wouldn't be possible if I thought they were responsible for this mess.
Dreadful. Please cease forthwith.
Though not the greatest Yes album, Big Generator certainly has it's moments and Shoot High Aim Low is one of its highest points. I was supremely happy to hear it in the lineup! -Cap
I'm a big Yes fan, but I always thought this song was a yawner.
A very differnt face of the Yes I am used to like and listen to, but I am willing to try these different style from the second generator...
I just love this! ABWH too. I guess different tastes for all. Go RP.
Wow!!! Big Generator was pretty much my soundtrack for the Summer of '88. This is a treat

He has those in rotation too!
I'm new to RP, so that's great info! Thanks!

Very reminiscent of ABWH. Love Yes, love the Roger Dean artwork on all of their covers. That said, this is not a "great" representation of the talent found in Yes, particularly the early stuff from the days of "Close to the Edge" and "The Yes Album". Bill, how about a cut or two from the latter?!?

It's great to hear this. I don't remember hearing this before. I'm a BIG YES fan. I have most of their cds. Rabin added a different slant to the band than Howe did and does now. I thinks Yes tried to veture out in to the heavier prog metal world. It was a good outing. Nice to see them living on the edge!!! Please keep the YES coming.
Just horrible. Sounds like a bad Spinal Tap outake.
Very Floydish, this one. Wonder if that is Howe or Rabin on the guitar solo? Sounds a lot like David Gilmour in tone and use of gain (obviously not him though).
Gotta agree, not Yes' best work. Although I like most stuff from Yes (and they are still AWESOME live), I think you need to go way back to Yes Album to really understand their talent...
Pretty lame for Yes. In fact, for this song, they should have renamed themselves "Maybe".
I was never a big Yes fan but this song really has the best elements of their talent.
Good stuff from Yes. It would be great to hear the 40 or 50 better Yes songs than this that demonstrate the high level of creativity that Yes is known for.
Wow does this tune bring back some memories--! I agree this is an outstanding album, and one of my favorite tracks from a great band. Love it.
I have the Green/Purple vinyl version of this album. It still gets a spin from time to time.
:goodvibes.gif: Heard it first on the review channel. I'm so glad this got added!!! I loved this song from this album. Thank You !!!
If this is Trevor Rabin, then I agree "truly amazing". I have not been this excited about a Yes song in quite some time. < :D > ">
It'll be interesting to see how the RP gang reacts to music from this iteration of Yes. Personally, I've been a Yes fan since about Day 1, and liked most of what they've done since then, with a few exceptions. Their music challenges me on several different levels, and I like that. Thanks for playing this one, Bill.
I'm a classic Yes fan and I love Trevor. He brought them to a new level. I love this and all the songs on this album.
No Yes No Yes No!
