On the old PBS TV program "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" they would give contestants a consolation prize if they failed to catch Carmen on the final geography speed round.  It was a Discman and some "CDs from around the world."  

This sounds like one of those CDs.  

By "world music" standards, it's fairly pedestrian, but it would have sounded unique and exotic to an American listener in the early 90s whose sole exposure to world music might have been Enya or Yanni.

I don't believe Thorin Oakenshield and the rest of the dwarf company passed through a desert on their way to the Lonely Mountain in search of the fabled Arkenstone. Definitely a Middle Earth sound, but this could have been more accurately titled "Mountain crossing" as the Dwarves and one plucky hobbit crossed a mountain instead of a desert.

I rated this an 8 sometime ago, don't specificaly recall the song although the 8 feels right in my current mood and while listening with headphones.  Cool tune all and LLRP and the eclectic mix!!

A new age artist, sometimes will listen to the collection I assembled on Spotify when the mood hearkens. I speak of a collection of different new agers, can be relaxing but not as a full time occupation!
