They call it Stormy Monday
But Tuesday's just as bad.
They call it Stormy Monday
But Tuesday's just as bad.
Lord, and Wednesday's worse
And Thursday's all so sad.
The eagle flies on Friday,
Saturday I go out to play.
The eagle flies on Friday,
Saturday I go out to play.
Sunday I go to church,
Gonna kneel down and pray.
Lord have mercy,
Lord have mercy on me.
Lord have mercy,
Lord have mercy on me.
Though I'm tryin' and tryin' to find my baby,
Won't someone please send her home to me.
But Tuesday's just as bad.

And Thursday's all so sad.

This song /album came out in 1971. I was 16, in high school, & I listened to it heavily back then! This is my 2nd favorite version (close 2nd) of this tune. Number one is Allman Bros. live at the Fillmore East!
Reminded me of early Blood sweat and tears. Not just the organ, but the screaming too.
And I love early BS&T :)

This is dreadful. That incessant organ makes me angry.

Sorry, Bill, this sounds too much like "Blues at the Ballpark". I don't know if I should dance or get a hot dog.

Clicked on Artist WebSite link. Looks like lee is making jewelry ;-)
This song has been covered by so many artists; I don't know how many early bands gave credit to the real blues players who wrote the songs they were making money from let alone paid royalties on them; blues artists from the 20's on very rarely received their fair due; not right. T-Bone Walker wrote this one
This is just god awful horrible. T-Bone is spinning in his grave.
Not sure what all the fuss is about...I like it!
I just LOVE a big fat organ (wait that didn't come out right).

Not bad, but made me pull out The Allman Brothers/ Fillmore East version, and crank it at my desk. Good thing I am working from home! Best version, in my opinion.
wtf?
This is just horrible... I mean horrible..
I like T-Bone's and Bobby Bland's...

Yay Bill for adding this classic!
Fantastic organ playing, thank you. Admittedly, do not recall having heard his music before, but why "savagely neglected", bill?
Isn't this from the live album where he was accompanied by just a drummer?
Diggin it.
14 degrees in Chicago. This just heated things up a bit.

Crazy Daddio !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stormy Monday Blues=Collosseum live! This version also not bad!
Another very good version of the T-Bone Walker tune! Allman Bros. also did a fine job, and lets not forget the excellent Jethro Tull effort. The original is still the best though...
Wow, some holy shit goin' down.

The trees were swaying to the music. Thanks for the shout-out, Bill.
WHAT? NO RP Comments? Weall can do better for Sandy's sake!
Stormy Monday, indeed, here in Pennsylvania. So far, so good.
C'mon Lee, don't be shy - let it rip!
Thanks for the weather appropriate tune! Hanging in there so far. Hope power stays on so I can stay tuned in!
I had forgotten about Lee Michaels. Makes me smile.
Oh you!
