I was born in 1955  and grew up 7 miles from NYC. We  had "duck & cover air raid drills in school until 1963, when I was in 3rd grade. I always expected nuclear Armageddon before I turned 21 in 1973. Read a biography of Putin:  "The Man Without a  Face, The Unlikely Rise of Vladimir Putin" by Masha Gesson.  Also check out: www.meduza.io/en  The English  version of Meduza, which is a group of Russian journalists that fled Russia for their own safety to Riga Latvia, 10yrs ago. 3 months ago, Putin called Meduza "an enemy of the state"! Read up & get informed before you make more silly comments!!

I was 13yrs old when this album came out & immediately bought it & loved it!!!  I felt that his tune was very humorous!!  1968 was during the height of the COLD WAR!

Christmas morning 1968 and this album is what Santa brought me, (14 years old)
I put the needle on the record with that so cool green apple label,
then I just froze when the opening jet planes started flying,...the whole album was an adventure, thank you Beatles

I remember hearing this tune when I was eight years old being played by some teenagers across the back lane.  My dad said that they were part of the Young Communists League.  I still don't know if he was joking or not.  But upon hearing it, I thought to myself, "I need to hear more of that!"

I've got a terrible weak spot for the Stones, but boy, Keith Richards lifted about every lick Chuck Berry once came up with. Just as he and the Stones took from Blues, Gospel, Soul, Jazz, Dylan and.....the Beatles all they could use. No problem, the way they did, but nevertheless, not that original as well. Asked what epitaph he wanted on his tombstone, Keith Richards answered; "He passed it on" (Victor Bockris' Keith Richards biography).

Right on, Jacques! Everyone who remembers when this album came out knows that this was done as a tribute to the Beach Boys. It\'s beyond obvious that this is done with real affection for a group the Beatles really respected.

Um... yeah, funny... but, all joking aside McCartney wrote this as a "nod and a wink" to Mike Love (Beach Boys) with whom they spent a few hippy-dippy weeks in India with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (Sexy Sadie...)... this song was written expressly to sound like the Beach Boys. It's too obvious a stylistic rip-off to be anything but a "tribute/tip of the hat"... Still, I wonder what ever became of these "Beatles"? Did they ever make it?
