You got me runnin good fever
I'm all shaken up inside
Babe I think you're a keeper
With that wink in your smile
Yeah it's here on my sleeve
Where it'll be worn
I learn the hard way
If I learn at all
You see It is what it is
Without a name
The wind blew you in
And your blowin me away
Don't say you love me
Yet
I won't take to heart
I know all regret
You see the closer I get
The harder I fall
I learn the hard way
If I learn at all
I learn the hard way
Everytime
Baby I know heartache
Like a nursery rhyme
I don't wanna be fooled
By my big old hearts call
I learn the hard way
If I learn at all
I learn the hard way
If I learn at all
I'm all shaken up inside
Babe I think you're a keeper
With that wink in your smile
Yeah it's here on my sleeve
Where it'll be worn
I learn the hard way
If I learn at all

Weird to hear the "Al" in Albany pronounced like Alcatraz. We say "All" around here.

Just had an intern working in my design company. As is the way with youths he was never without either speakers or headphones in the workshop. His music choice was pretty damned good, way beyond his 20 or so years. Turns out he got most of his tunes from his old man who is an avid RP listener. Rock on RP!
Great slide guitar. Likely Joshua Cunningham
Open chords can help almost anyone sound good but in talented hands are transforming.
The Waifs are amazing.

More i hear this fine group the more this song grows on me
Bill I am a big fan of London Still, but also a great song The Bridal Train about the sisters grandmother who met a US navy sailor during WW II and then moved to the states. Great song.
Always think, yeah!, Bill is finally playing Melissa Ferrick ...
this is reminiscent of her earlier acoustic album

I just emailed the band to see if they'd be willing to help out - any bets on if we get a reply? I hope so cuz I've become a big fan of their music in the last year and it's ALL because of BillG's inclusion here at RP. LONG LIVE RP!!

J'adore.
I've heard this a number of times. But I never heard just what a...sexy grinder...it is.
Love the fine guitar work on this.

Also, go through the RP link on the Home page whenever you buy anything from Amazon or iTunes, people. This is a noble project that should be sustained.

GREAT music! But with no commercials, how do you get the business running?

I learn the hard way, too!

Nice song. The Waifs are currently "on hiatus" and possibly broken up. Donna Simpson (currently living here in MN) says "you never know".
And, what do ya know but The Waifs are currently reformed and on tour in Oz. Morose
Ya know, this is one of the worst songs ever.. in my humble opinion. I don't use the word "hate" but just typing it makes me feel better....
So glad the song is over!!!!
I LOVE RP. I HATE this song....whiney angsty nonsense.
reminds me A LOT of Shivaree
I am fortunate to have a housemate who is very good friends with Donna Simpson, one of The Waifs (now on a long hiatus). Donna recently visited our home and would sing around the house. I hope they reunite or at least Donna keeps on. This is a wonderful song. She's back in Oz.
I thought of Lucinda too when I first heard this.

My mistake, but IMD the credits on allmusic list Koskinen on slide. They list Cunningham, but not on slide.

My two centavos' worth: Yep, "it is what it is" .. and that's a fact folks. BTDT, oh so many times but a man never learns, no he don't. At least this man don't. Cynaera, you were right all along.
Sizzling slide.
Walking Blues.. Head filled with pain and some thinking to be done... Walk-It-Out... Don't we -all- learn the hard way, if we learn at all...?
Mmmm...I don't like this one—-it's just too much like this old country song; I'll get back to you on which one—-it was already a very basic song
Wonderful basic beat. Love the slide and her vocals. Sweet and simple. No overdubs here

Really find this one annoying....one of those odd ones where I like it less and less each time I hear it.
sounds like what my ex sez to me...'you learn the hard way..IF you learn at all"....i tell her it's not that at all ,it's just that.shes always wrong. .....the nerve of some people
I couldn't swore it was Amy Ray - had to look twice! Nice deep poignant voice!

I like the low end on the acoustic guitar, it really has a really full sound in headphones.
no socks here either...it's tops.

For those who enjoy West Coast Swing dancing, this song is a perfect tempo for a "Nite Club Two Step" dance.

Thanks RP for another great song. We saw this band at the Jazz Fest and they were great entertainers on stage - go see them.
Wow! New to me. Whoever this is, I want more. Deelicious tune!...

Nice. Slow, with a bit of heat on the back burner. Love that guitar too.

RP usually helps with my cred at the record store as well...
