A black eyed dog he called at my door
The black eyed dog he called for more
A black eyed dog he knew my name
A black eyed dog he knew my name
The black eyed dog, a black eyed dog
I'm growing old and I wanna go home
I'm growing old and I don't wanna know
I'm growing old and I wanna go home

A black eyed dog he called for more

I think I've aged out of psychedelic music.
More Gomez please!
Three Hours by John Parish then this. Beautiful. Now for the real thing. Bill??.....
I will listen to anything Gomez does. One of my all time favorite bands. But this one is low on the list of favorites,
Lovely tribute to Nick Drake, a beautiful tortured soul.
And a nod to Winston Churchill, to boot.

Nice seque. I like open tuning. Would love for us now to transition into some Bert Jansch or Davy Graham...
Nice segue Bill...

Miss my girl Nena dog.
Expected to hate this, but fortunately don't.
Swans covered this in the early 90s. I heard that before I heard Nick's original, which wasn't on any of the albums issued during his life.

Huh, what's that? C'mon guys, you declined Nick Drakes original which I submitted a couple of days ago! It hasn't been detected by your system as already refused or in your playlist already, so you obiously rejected it "manually". I didn take that personally, I thought ok, maybe it's too depressing, it's your station and I respect your choice, even your passion for Gomez. Their version - which I heard for the first time - is pretty good but not as heart-melting and true as Nick's, sorry to say. That guy deserves to be played in the first place and I bet, Gomez would agree! An 8 for them and a 10 for Nick! Cheers!

Everybody in my mushrooming multitude of churches be dancing buck ass naked like bowlegged gypsy muleskinners... love this cover... love sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll...
This is one of the most incredible covers of any song in the history of our solar system...
the original is of course the best, because, well, it is original... but this cover boots the guitar up to 12 strings and is live to boot...
this cover turns this song that was so great to begin with into a veritable existential wail of anguish at the absurdity of our temporal existence and the process of aging we are forced to endure...
this cover squeezes my gizzards soooo much... love it...
Where is this song...need it now.

With you completely, Hilsy. Really a nice homage.
Check out now-defunct, old Minneapolis guitar rockers with cred, Walt Mink. The do a fine electric Pink Moon on their first (brilliant) record, Miss Happiness.

Where can I get a Pear Jam CD? I want to hear them.
Pear Jam is not available in that format- I've only seen it in jars and those little packets on the restaurant tables...
You'll have to clean the sound system after you put it in there, however...

Nirvana, now Nick Drake...What is this, the suicide set?

This got my attention. I really like the grit and rawness here. And Bill, this was a genius segue from Nirvana...

I like it! Well said!
love Gomez..but this is not very worthwhile

Why not play the Nick Drake original ? This cover is just 'okay' (5)....
Yo Bill, More Nick Drake!
I prefer Nick Drake's original. It has more feeling and sincerity. Not that this is bad or anything... it just doesn't measure up to the original.
What cover?? No image is available!!!
Lots of comments that this cover doesnt add anything. I think It more energetic, slightly angrier vocals - which works quite well.
I like this cover, it's a fine effort,
but doesn't quite exude the beautiful, dark quality of Nick's original.
I prefer the Chopping Broccoli song.
A very good effort but you cant beat the orginal.

The guitar riff sounds a lot like Bali Eyes by Porno for Pyros. ...that song should be on RP too.

Nah, it can't be pearl jam, you can understand the lyrics :)

Love these guys even when the song is not theirs.
I like this song more and more everytime I hear it.
A great cover of what must be one of THE darkest songs out there!

It's not just you.
I am really starting to dig Gomez - Thanks RP
Nice cover...anyone ever hear the version of it by The Swans? Real razor to the wrist stuff.

gutsy to cover a ND tune...damn fine job Gomez!
Here, here, Anne_Marie, on both counts.

Agreed! Great cover.
I love the raspy, unfinished sound. Very expressive.
Great cover....he captures the spirit of Nick Drake..
And the dawwwwggg with ... well, you know what kinda eyes he's got.

This was a song in the movie Practical Magic's sound track. I love this song, love his voice... I just think it's a great song and always puts me to mind of that movie.
I'm thinking a certain tune off Led Zep IV would make for a great follow...
Likeable tune...I'll freely admit Gomez isn't for everybody. But with three singers, there's a good chance that, if you don't like this song, you'll like something else.
Is this the guy from the addams family?
I would like to have an instrumental version

Definitely not just you...I've never thought that about Gomez before, but somehow in this version, I really thought it was Eddie singing higher than usual. The guitar sounds like PJ too---reminiscent of something off a soundtrack--possibly The Long Road from Dead Man Walking?
we need a 'huh, what the hell - dont hate it but not sure i like it' rating number
i really like gomez alot
but i'm pretty sure i don't like this cover alot

I know, Tux -- it's so incredible, it brought tears to my eyes too!
Gomez is a great band - I was fortunate to catch them live here in Greenville, SC and they were truly electrifying. Lots of different styles and energy. Catch 'em if you can!
Simply too repetitive. I'd like to hear Nick Drake's version if this is a cover. His guitar playing is beautiful.

gomez is a great band. Never heard them covering Nick Drake before.
Interesting. Adds a roughness to Nick Drake's song that actually makes it a little more open-hearted and less deadly. I can't help but think that Drake wrote this song to the depression that followed him around...kinda like a dog.
Sorry, but whomever is singing this has marbles in his mouth. ">
Edgy British pseudo-alternative rockers who are leading the charge in the opposite direction of trip-hop... so why do all those elements combine to sound something like Stone Temple Pilots' lighter moments? Pleasant enough, I guess.
Cool cover, love Nick's version. I'll give this a nine
Hmmm... Gomez doing Nick Drake. Pretty cool.
