I'm lazy when I'm lovin', I'm lazy when I play
I'm lazy with my girlfriend a thousand times a day
I'm lazy when I'm speaking, I'm lazy when I walk
I'm lazy when I'm dancin' and I'm lazy when I talk

I open up my mouth, it comes rushin' out
Nothin', doin' nadda, never, how you like me now?
Wouldn't it be mad, wouldn't it be fine
Lazy, lucky lady, dancin', lovin' all the time

I-I-I-I'm wicked and I'm lazy
Ooooh, don't you wanna save me

Some folks they got money an' some folks lives are sweet
Some folks make decisions an' some folks clean the streets, now
Imagine what it feels like, imagine how it sounds
Imagine life is perfect an' everything works out

No tears are fallin' from my eyes
I'm keepin' all the pain inside
Now don't you wanna live with me?
I'm lazy as a man can be!

I-I-I-I'm wicked and I'm lazy
Ooooh, don't you wanna save me

Imagine there's a girlfriend, imagine there's a job
Imagine there's an answer, imagine there's a God
Imagine I'm a Devil, imagine I'm a Saint
Lazy money, lazy sexy, lazy outta space!

No tears are fallin' from my eyes
I'm keepin' all the pain inside
Now don't you wanna live with me?
I'm lazy as a man can be!

I-I-I-I'm wicked and I'm lazy
Ooooh, don't you wanna save me

Lazy when I work, lazy on the bed
Screamin' all you like, but it only fades away
I'm lazy when I'm prayin', lazy on the job
Got a lazy mind, a lazy eye, a lazy lazy father

Hard men, hard lives
Hard keepin' it all inside
Good times, good God
I'm so lazy I almost stop!

*Cough*

I-I-I-I'm wicked and I'm lazy
Ooooh, don't you wanna save me

I-I-I-I'm wicked and I'm lazy
Ooooh, don't you wanna save me

A few songs ago Talking Heads (!!) and now David Byrne. Can we please enjoy one single day without them?!
Byrne, Baby, Byrne

So you're a sucking expert?
why does it remind me of Dave Matthews band

Turn off the frigging radio.
i revel in the reality that people like this can spend years recording this shit and I can turn it off in an instant
and COMMENT!!
Burned RP fans?!  don't even leave an assrub reply... Just go listen to your man😆

That's a great version - actually the first version I came across once upon a time when I found it as a new release in a record store about 18 years ago.. haven't heard it since. Now listening to the original as I write this.. for the first time.
omg david byrne is 68... jeez do I feel old.

I prefer that version to this one
Too long! ...it would have made a good 4:35 minute song!

Stop making sense!
Song came on and I thought...this sounds chaotic and stupid...wonder if it's David Byrne. Sure enough. Ugh. Just not my cuppa!

Interesting to hear the original, but the X-Press 2 version is better by a few orders of magnitude.

If only David Byrne cared what you thought.

Killer David Byrne song.  Do not pass up the opportunity to see David Byrne live!

"I-I-I-I'm wicked and I'm lazy

No, Dave, I'd just rather use the PSD button for all it's worth.

Unclelonghair, you're right on all three counts...well, maybe not "surprisingly bad." A lot of recent David Byrne is reliably, predictably bad. And it does go on forever--9:36. Even the slower versions of the first movement of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony clock in under that, and Beethoven had so much more to say.

Spot on CJ, a little glimpse of his past greatness.
I find I often admire what David Byrne is aiming to do, without getting that much satisfaction from the final product.
Freaking awesome.
So glad I PSD'd from monsters and men
Goddamn Godlike!! Because this is an unique artist and the ''Lazy'' is a piece of art! {#Cool}

Edit: I looked it up (since I'm not lazy). This thing is 9:36 long. That's too much, in my estimation, by about 8 minutes.

By about 9:34 in my view. Truly David Byrne is the Pseudy Ponce's Pseudy Ponce. A darling of the chatterati and hipsters and arty review shows, but ultimately with the substance of a Will Self and the same degree of self-importance. An auto-rate 1 and TFFPSD.
And he looks so cute - in his little red suit!
This is why, not matter what, I don't skip songs. The previous song was just god awful to my ears but the segue into this one was extraordinary. Don't change a thing Bill!

I as well!  At first I thought we were in for Elton John's Sixty Years On.  This is quite likable.
I am not normally a big TH or DB fan...but his music is ALWAYS interesting, and this is a breakthrough song for me. Pretty groovie
I like it.  It is quite derivative of a frenetic groove from an old Talking Heads song, "The Great Curve," from Remain In Light...
Here we go again. A DB song I love. Yet I can't stand TH. I'm puzzled.

thank you for the info (this version = meh : )
{#Dancingbanana}
awesomeo, like all DB
If he were lazier perhaps he would not have written this song.

Do not understand Bill's attraction to post TH Byrne.  It is all so uninspiring.

Me too {#Clap} Simply because not a lot of blokes admit to it...(I'm lazy as a man can be!) {#Lol}
It seems that post Talking Heads, David Byrne produces only junk...
I don't understand the naysayers.  I like this!  {#Clap}
I can see only one reason why Bill would play a nine minute song that is rated 5.0 or lower in stead of three decent songs of 3 minutes... he's lazy. {#Yes}

Great idea!

I know for certain this exists in a remixed - and much better - version. Play that one please!

this sucks.

Thanks for the info......... back in 9 minutes...........

Dig this tune.
He's too lazy to finish the song. Wicked.

Right here. David Byrne, for me, is the epitome of "Godlike." But to each her own.
Make it stop!
sounds like it should be on Charlies' Angels or Starsky and Hutch...
SARKO BARFO!
I'm surprised this is still played given its poor rating by listeners.
This song slipped from a four to a three....

I like eclectisism, but putting this after the tremendous Fanfare for the Common Man just can't be expected to go well... Wow does this sound bad in comparison.
Poor girlfriend...
Wake me when it's over.
Enough, we get it, your lazy
Dave, go home to the Talking Heads, they're waiting for you.
Funktacular, baby!
I think he lifted part of that violin riff straigt from the theme of CHiPs.
Is this man in pain? He moans like a cow stuck in a barb wire fence.
Bill, I like your style! What a great follow-up to the Big Daddy cover!
Again, the remixes of the song sound better to me - and yes, they sound good in a club - I recommend "finding" the mix with Xpress2. I heard that mix first, then this original version, and I certainly like the mix more...
I like it. I bet it would sound great on a club sound system. How come "Lazy" isn't mentioned on the track listing?
Man - this song drags on and on and on... If we have to listen to a song called "Lazy" make it Deep Purple's "Lazy".
Bad, very bad. Way to repetitive. I registered just so I could rate it a one.
For a song called "Lazy" it sure seems kind of busy.

Yeah that's the one, it's on one of my running mixes...Byrne fans should check it out.

Sounds like a David Byrne that's trying hard to be the David Byrne that didn't used to have to try hard.
The start makes me think of Bjork, but the rest would fit too, except for the voice. :D
Previous definition of "ambivalence": seeing your mother-in-law drive over a cliff in your new car. New definition of "ambivalence": listening to David Byrne and thinking of something intelligent to say about him.
Technically perfect, excellent production, spiritually empty. Missing that spark. Like a jazz or classical musician that hits tons of notes but says nothing. Clever but anoying. If I never heard it again that would be fine.
KevDog kinda digs it. It is a 6.5.
The dvd of David's show from Union Chapel in London features a fine version of this, complete with string section. The concert also includes his cover of Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)"!!!!
I prefer the single edit (although I miss the strings)
Apt name for this tune. David, David, we hardly knew ye!
Oh how I hate this song, will it ever end?
oh yeaaaa work it david work it!!!!!
definitely cool
I like this a lot better than that other track from this disc that has been played so much around here. I really like the strings at the end of this one.
I guess I'm still just a sucker for David Byrne. Didn't like this much when I first heard it here on RP. But now I'm beginning to get into it. The man just works on so many different levels.
Thanks for playing, I think this is cool.
I am big daviv Byrne Fan, but this is very painful to hear.. it is like watching true stories over and over...Please, seriously...stop it...
I liked the Talking Heads but this song sucks. 1. way too long and repetitive. 2. his vocals are the same few sliding riffs that were creative in the original TH songs but now he is just endlessly recycling his old tricks over and over and over and over and (you get the idea). Sucks. Totally. PLEASE QUIT PLAYING IT SO MUCH!!

Lots of positives for this song. The comments and ratings are consistent. The universal disdain they express show show that good taste is alive and well and that it can be pretty easy to get people to agree about stuff. Thanks, David. Thanks, too, for the long intro that gives would-be listeners time to hit the mute button! All around, this song has LOTS of redeeming features!
This is the song that never ends... it just goes on and on, my friends... could have lived without this one.
I was trying to give this song a chance since I like David Byrne a bunch.. but this song sucks..really sucks... It is not The Temptations..It is not Shaft..It is not Disco...It becomes nothing
David always gets high marks for inventiveness, to say nothing of chutzpah.
This song seems to play on RP every day. I like it--but not that much!

I was thinking of Papa Was a Rolling Stone, especially because of the strings arrangement.
I didn't think it was a great song when I heard it first... Everytime I hear it again, it becomes more annoying though...
My volume 10 of Paste magazine arrived yesterday, featuring an article on David Byrne.

Exactly , whatever happened to that frantic energy of Talking Heads Days !
OK, this rocks...in a wierd, grown backward, David Byrne sort of way

Would have been great as an action scene track for CHiPs. Minus the annoying lyrics. And it just goes on and on and on. Time to move on.
Oh David .. Oh Hum ... Oh David , Oh Hummmm zzzzz....

Why is it still going? Is he trying to outlast Inagadavida?
I can groove to this. It keeps me awake. How often can this happen with a song about being lazy?
What, no reggae covers of this song available?
No mas, no mas! I'll tell you where I hid the WMD!!!!
OK, DB live is surely fun, but this song is getting WAY too much play. It was almost OK the first few times, but it's positively painful now.
This always gets me smiling again. Thanks!! :sunny.gif:
Love this song. Love Tosca. Bought the Album. Expected more songs like this. Not to be. Very odd, indeed. Maybe in a couple of years, I'll get it. In the meantime. It kind of grates on me.
It's mezmerizing - not brilliant, but at least original.
Starts out like a Moody Blues song. Kinda fun!
This is total crap. Enuff said
Much better when Fatboy Slim mixed this into the Brighton Beach show.
I hate Flanders

OK, I'm challenged. I like several TH songs a lot. Otherwise, I find DB's music facile. I'm sure he has great personal charisma at a cocktail party, but I just don't get the "genius" label for this guy.
I get pissy whenever this song comes up. Can't do Byrne . Please go away. :P
I don't think this is credited to David Byrne, nor is it from the album Grown Backwards. Rather, it's a group called "X-Press 2" that David liked and did vocals for on this one track three years ago ( https://www.talking-heads.net/lazy.html ) I really liked the original version of this track. The version on RP yesterday was stripped down a little too much.
