Was this exchange when they were in bed or at the drive-thru where Lester was working?
drive-thru - Classic scene!
Had to fetch this from IMDB, as Lester walks in on his wife Carolyn and Buddy, the Real Estate King, in bed:
Carolyn Burnham: Uh, Buddy, this is my...
Lester Burnham: Her husband. We've met before, but something tells me you're going to remember me this time.
he kinda looks like a cross between Lennon & McCartney
Ooo, turns out he wrote that theme.
Alfred Newman was the head of a family of major Hollywood film composers:His brother Lionel Newman scored three dozen films and several TV series, adapting and conducting scores for hundreds of other films.
His brother Emil Newmanscored over 80 films.
His son David Newman has scored nearly 100 films, including Hoffa, Galaxy Quest, The Nutty Professor, The War of the Roses, and Ice Age.
His son Thomas Newman has scored over 75 films, including Finding Nemo, The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption, Fried Green Tomatoes, Road to Perdition, American Beauty, and WALL-E, and has received ten Academy Award nominations.
His daughter Maria Newman is an eminent musician and composer.
His nephew Randy Newman is a two-time Academy Award winner noted not only for his film work but also for a series of popular albums as a singer/songwriter.
His grandnephew Joey Newman has scored many TV series, films, and video games
No relation to Alfred E. Neuman, however.
Ironic, now that we know more about Spacey. Apparently he was acting naturally. With the obvious difference, of course.
Did you forget about the middle-aged woman banging the Realty King?
The movie was a critique about many different parts of society. Interesting how that one stuck in your craw.
A fair point, and you're right, it was a multi-faceted movie. However, seeing as the central character was Kevin Spacey's menopausal man, I think it's not unreasonable for his middle-aged travails and fantasies to be the main thing that I remember about it.
The movie still remains, to me one of the best movies I've ever seen.
It also won best picture of the year.

Not so fast there, big boy. I ride a motorbike and enjoy chatting up women from 20-year-olds to 80-year-olds, always without lecherous intent ... well, almost always without lecherous intent. My youth may be gone, but not my enthusiasm for life.
And if I'm middle-aged now, I'll live to be 120.
Thomas Newman is the best composer today.
We be slow dancing! Hope you are having a marvelous day right this minute, SmackDaddy!
Everybody in my mushrooming multitude of churches be slow dancing buck ass naked... love this song... love sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll...
fixed
Everybody in my church loves this music, and the movie...
Me, too.
Nice to hear!
AB is easily in my top 5 all-time flicks..
ic.
I'll second that sigh. It was a fine movie, very funny in parts, and a bucket of cold water over every menopausal middle-aged man's lustful fantasies about young women. Maybe more middle-aged men should watch it so that they grow up instead of trying vainly and sadly (both meanings of that word) to recapture lost youth by riding fast motorbikes and chatting up 20-year-olds.

And he never worried...
Doesn't he look like that country singer named Scotty on "American Idol"? (I think I just did permanent damage to a couple of synapses in my brain.)
His dad was Alfred Newman. He was also a film composer.

TOOO BAD Bill never plays some Basil Poledouris' stuff. I tried soooo many times to have him play some Conan The Barbarian tune, even the very day of the composer's death...
Hello...Newman!
Joking right? His father was the legendary Alfred E. Newman (What, Me Worry?) and his uncle is Lionel Newman. One of his cousins is Randy Newman.
I like the tune too.
Yeah Yeah Yeah, smoking and pokin ... then they catch a baby and you gotta marry 'em and join the Army and then the ciggies turn into weed and then the dregs of addiction, crack, meth, crystal, rocks, and Doom, laid in a shallow grave by the Green River Killer, all chopped and minced and pathetic and you got you gramma to raise the kid and he turns into a switchblade slashing greaser kind o'kid always in Trouble and onsellin his ritalin and snorting his aderall.
Nope, no smoking gals for me.
Wow.."smokin" response. I'll buy your book when it's written.
His father had the unfortunate name of Alfred E. Newman. If you don't get it, just say, "What? Me worry?"
"A Civil Action" with John Travolta.
"Meet Joe Black" with Anthony Hopkins/Brad Pitt and, I think... "Horse Whisperer" with Robert Redford.
Great opening. I think it's time to get the movie out again.
This music is good for the ears...
...i like how you roll.
and weep?
