Well now tell me....What in the world can be wrong
I said tell me....What in the world can be wrong
Woke up this mornin'....Trouble knockin' at my door

I wonder what's the trouble....Great big troubles at my door
I wonder what's the trouble....Great big troubles at my door
Yes I'm goin' up to Macon....Don't wanna be here no more

I'd better forget it...Let this trouble pass
I'd better forget it...Let this trouble pass
Yes I wonder sometime....How long my trouble gonna last

I said goodbye, goodbye baby got to go
I said goodbye, goodbye baby got to go
I ain't hangin' 'round here....Worrying where there's trouble no more

Trouble is knockin'....Trouble is knockin'
Trouble is knockin'....Trouble is knockin'
Trouble is knockin'....Can't be where it's at no more

Wow.  Can't tell if this is simple ignorance (Wikipedia:Twelve-bar blues), or just being flippant.  Good lord.
One of those guys who makes me stop and listen and shake my head. Great great guitar player.

There are only a few chord progressions if you're playing blues music; the most common being a I-IV-V.  Someone should've told you that.

and like Doc Brown in Back to the Future, his reply would have been "chord progressions?  where we're going, we don't need chords"
Such fine memories! This was getting a lot of airplay, tape-deck and turntable time when I was living and working up in Summit County the 1st time, the summer and fall of '84. Saw him at CU Event Center in '85 and at Red Rocks with Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal in '86...
Every time I hear this song, I am compelled to knock it down another notch....down to a 2....does this thing go negative?
Someone should have told Stevie that there really is more than one chord progression.
I love almost everything that exists in music. But Steve is the only guy in the world who can trigger such a big smile on my face and drive me burst into laughter of joy every time he starts a solo. Pure love, pure beauty, pure life, pure humanity, pure talent, pure intensity, pure perfection, straight to the soul. I miss so much my short life as an Austinite, saluting Steve's statue while jogging on Colorado river. His âme floats on every tree and every stone in the city. Greetings to Joe's Generic Bar where all Steve's disciples play every night. Wish I'll be back there one day.
The Great Stevie Ray Vaughan. Not his best but much more pleasant to my ears. Plus no competitor when it comes to rythme
I love SRV, but this is not one of his better efforts

That is odd - I heard *nothing at all* during the song, and then Bill's voice BLASTED in because I had turned it up trying hear something.

Never understood the hero worship for this guy. I chalked it up at the time (mid 80s) to blues ignorance and a yearning to escape the music which was contemporary to that time. Frankly, he was a good blues guitarist, couldn't sing a lick, couldn't hold a candle to the black legends or even to the white masters like Johnny Winter or Roy Buchanan. Actually, once saw him on a double bill with Roy in New ORleans back in 83 and Roy, the opener, blew him away.

that's cause you're not from Texas... however you do have Joe Bonamassa
died too young... just imagine how he would be with more hits

{#Dancingbanana}Hey, you six soulless Neanderthals who rated this a 1, this dancing banana is for you. Lighten up!

yeah, yeah...lots of great guitarists in history. SRV is one of them....simple
I don't listen to the blues often my friends... but when I do, it's Stevie Ray Vaughan.
And your list doesn't even include any of the Saxophonists collectively known as the Texas Tenors. Illinois Jacquet, Arnett Cobb, David "Fathead" Newman, Buddy Tate, and King Curtis.

Yeah, you're probably right:

- Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown
- Blind Lemon Jefferson
- Roy Orbison
- Willie Nelson
- Waylon Jennings
- Kris Kristofferson
- Buddy Holly
- Lyle Lovett
- Nanci Griffith
- Bob Wills
- Janis Joplin
- Scott Joplin
- Boz Scaggs
- Johnny and Edgar Winter
- Gene Autry !!
- Don Henley
- Michelle Shocked

were all a bunch of no-talent pikers.

I think Ray Wylie Hubbard may have said it best: "Screw You, We're From Texas".

Just kidding you. Us Texans have been known to get a mite riled when our Republic's honor is at stake. Just havin' a little fun with you.

jhorton my friend - there is hardly a guitarist on this planet that consistently matches SRV for guitar excellence. Granted, this is one of hie lesser efforts but still exemplifies this man's god-given talent. Now, drop to bended knee and beg forgiveness for your outrageous slur against the great man ;)

Blech!
SRV=Everything nice!
Got some rain today here in central Texas, which helps, but it would be nice to have a real Texas flood.
Just need a little SRV to pick up any morning!  Will always be a big fan.  GREAT
I am not a huge fan of his music, but I do think he was the best blues guitarists the world has ever seen.{#Yes}
Stevie Ray Vaughan. Nothing more to say. {#Dancingbanana_2}
I'll have the SRV burger to go!!!!
Again, I  am am going to use terminology incorrectly but 'gosh bless'

I cant help, i love the blues:

I got to meet him while working at sound warehouse in Dallas...He just came in to see how his records were selling...could'nt have been a nicer guy....soooo cool!

SRV's music has always been summer music to my ears. Maybe it's all the outdoor concerts with bands that bring his music alive in the sweet, sweet summertime.  BRING ON SUMMER!  ...from a long hard winter in Ontario.  Thanks RP!

right on SRV!!!
I like this one, especially since it's not one of the over-played handful of tunes that you hear all the time.

The true sign of someone who doesn't know much about Texas...it has always been SO popular to hate Texas. Go visit with an open mind, and tell me you still hate it.

Ya mo bee there!
No matter what he plays - genius
bloody marvelous!
Oh yeah... way to bring in a friday morning with a little stevie
First time I ever heard Stevie Ray Vaughn (on FM when that dial was worth something) the DJ remarked on how SRV had played with David Bowie and I could scarcely believe it ... never been a Bowie fan but Stevie kicks ass !!!
kick bootay
Looking back I see this song doesn't get into rotation often...and maybe it should!
Yum-yum; like buttah!
YEAH!!! Rock on Stevie!
Absolutely over the top! And live, he was all talent on the guitar, no flash. What a genius.
steeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevy ray vaughan! yeah
Yes, nothing like the blues to perk one up!

I didn't hear this one, but I don't think SRV ever recorded a song called "Tell Me" It's not on the greatest hits. If it starts "Well now tell me/what in the world can be wrong" it's called "Empty Arms" and its the first track on "The Sky is Crying"
Yes, well it's not on the greatest hits. It's a Howlin' Wolf song Stevie covered on Texas Flood, his first album and it is called Tell Me.
the man
STEVIE!!!!!

Abrupt transition from the Stones' "You can't always get what you want." I was jarred, Bill is normally very smooth ...
Absolutely love SRV but the swingy be-boppy stuff isn't my favorite. Still, got to be an 8. Stuff like Lenny, Riv Paradise, Lil Wing gets a 10 from me though.
Wow, what a charge of positive energy!!! I love this guy. God bless his soul!

I agree that my comment does not make much sense. I know that I was trying to make some point, but I am mystified as well! I guess that day they must have just played When Love Comes to Town off of Rattle and Hum and someone must have commented that U2 was a good blues band. ....or maybe I just wasn't taking my meds that day??? 8O ....do you ever have the feeling that you have just had a moment like on those Southwest Airlines commercials where someone does something stupid and the announcer states: "Wanna get away?" Well, I am having one of those moments......

Rave Awn! Mr. Ray Vaughan! A 10!
brilliant blues guitarist...too bad I don't think blues is more interesting. :-)
A toe tapper...... .....or a great air guitar song after a few brews.
I wonder where he would fall in the scheme of things right now, were he still alive? Revered like Clapton or scorned like Eddie Van Halen? I've always thought that the difference between great and has-been for guitarists is simply a matter of IQ, not raw talent. I mean, look at Kenny Wayne Sheppard. About as vacuous as Eddie VH, and will have a similar shelf life, I am sure.
