Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
So we can be one
We can be one together
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
So we can be one
We can be one together
Together we can cast away the fear
Together we can wipe away the tear
Together we can strip down the barriers
And be one
Don't wanna talk about the weather
Don't wanna talk about the news
Just wanna get to the real you inside
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
So we can be one
We can be one together
Don't you think now is the time
We should be feelin'
Just wanna simply say
Won't let you slip away
People wanna talk about the future
Don't wanna linger on the past
Just wanna reach the real you inside
Forget cold glances and rejections
Leave the things that separate
Build on a trust that we can stand on
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
So we can be one
We can be one together
Finding all are insecure
Opening the same door
Leaving out a stubborn pride
Seeing from the other side
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
So we can be one
We can be one together
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well

An easy 8 just on nostalgic reasons alone!
i think this is my fav HJ song. haven't heard it in years!
Saw Howard Jones play at Towersey Festival in August. He is a brilliant keyboard player and has got better with age. Being supported by Nick Begg (Kajagoogoo) on Chapman stick was the icing on the cake!
Seeing as there's only 5 comments since 2003, I assume Bill put this back into rotation to see how it fares.
That said, I strongly disagree with all the negative comments. This song is not Pink Floyd quality, but it was fairly decent synth pop and was definitely on a level above Wham and Madonna. Howard Jones wrote and composed his own music, which is more than I can say for a lot of 1980s pop.
Whether it belongs on RP is another story, but I think it's fine in small amounts, like 1-2 plays a month. As far as all those comments below, it sounds like a bunch of angry RP listeners in 2003 were remembering their crappy teenage years.

Yeah! This is the part when Monique convinces Lane that once he has a taste of success, he will find that is suits him by winning the drag race.

Ohhh, it's so easy to say good things and bad things about this man' s music.

Drum machine, half-man yodeling love calls to other half-men have no place here.

I remember him putting on a really fun show, 1985- I was 16 with feathered hair and a trench coat. My girlfriend looked like Cyndi Lauper- it was great.
Album cover is *HAWT*

Although it's probably a different song and maybe a different artist, I have this horrible vision of Howard and some idiot in a mask prancing around him. It's like I'm remembering some nightmare... was there a video like that.
No, that was Howie, although it was a different song...
"Throw off your mental chains..." :)

Screw all that! Great song! An 80s classic from Better Off Dead.
I even remember the A-Ha type of video!

Laughably bad!
Oh the loathing. Like disco, this too shall be hip again some day.

This song. :headshake:
my god i have memories ... bad ones :) :P
As a child of the 70's and 80's I have to say I like this, it'll never win any prizes outside of it's 80's class but it's still good IMHO!
I want my $2!!!
Words to live by from the movie:
Go that way...really fast...
If something gets in your way, TURN!

Better Off Dead!
The worst thing about this crap is that it reminds me that I actually own the album...
Better Off Dead ... fine film ... the only thing good about this song.
C'mon, it was bad enough I had to live through the 80s and hear this drivel on the radio. Do I really have to relive the horror? :verysorry:
what is this crap? Synth = suck
Screw all that! Great song! An 80s classic from Better Off Dead.

Generic and overproduced new wave reggae-pop. There's a genre that should simply disappear from the face of the earth.
I\'m delighted to have ol\' Ho Jo appear here on RP. Sure, it\'s fluffy pop, but it\'s worlds better than most fluffy pop, and it does bring back some fun memories. RP gains a lot of strength for its willingness to play unexpected songs like this. Thanks, Bill.
Better Off Dead!

Truly horrible. Unlistenable.
yikes, i\'d like to forget this one ever existed
ick
I like HJ and love the awesome 80\'s but this isn\'t a stronger cut.
sounds like hall and oates. and that is not good.

Don't worry, man...I DO! Monique, wasn't it? She kicks Beth's A** anyday...RRROOWWW!
You got to know us, we met...now it is time to move on. Would you leave please?
;)
This isn\'t sounding good in the mix. Not holding up well over time. The ability of some music of that age and older is what speaks of \"classic\" - standing the test of time across many perspectives of styles and preferences. This, to my ears, is not of that ilk.

The band that did "Forever Young" was called AlphaVille. That album (of the same name) was probably the best 80's pop type album in my collection. Songs like "Big in Japan", "Jet Set", and "To Germany With Love" were awesome. The rest of the album was good as well. Course, it does not sound as good now. But back then, it was hittin'! "Forever Young" was played at a funeral for a school mate back then so it is bittersweet to hear now.
This one brings back some great high-school memories.
Thanks RP!

I think it\'s great to hear HJ again - brings back some nice, melodic memories.
Never really got into this sort of eighties stuff, but nowadays, when I have to choose, I strangly enough, prefer bands like Culture Club (very good, actually) and Kajagoogoo ("Too Shy", only) above this Howard Jones kinda music. They, at least, didn't seem to take themselves too seriously, what made their oversynthesized/produced (now outdated) music, pretty much bearable and nowadays (sometimes), even fun listening to.

....nice to hear Howard again. :)
Howard Jones.. 80\'s artist.. near the finer edge..
I think this song was used in Real Genius ...
In anycase... not a bad song, sound is a little dated, but still not bad.
