See the moon roll across the stars
See the seasons turn like a heart
Your father's days are lost to you
This is your time here
to do what you will do

Your life is now
your life is now
your life is now
In this undiscovered moment
Lift your head up above the crowd
We could shake this world
If you would only show us how
Your life is now

Would you teach your children to tell the truth
Would you take the high road if you could choose
Do you believe you're a victim of a great compromise
'Cause I believe you could change your mind
and change our lives

Your life is now
your life is now
your life is now
In this undiscovered moment
Lift your head up above the crowd
We could shake this world
If you would only show us how
Your life is now

Would you teach your children
to tell the truth
This is your time here
to do what you will do

Your life is now
your life is now
your life is now
In this undiscovered moment
Lift your head up above the crowd
We could shake this world
If you would only show us how
Your life is now

Picture on his bio looks like Michael Fox. Good song.

I used to love Mellencamp's music, but it is now forever tainted with his hate for people like me, as his latest music is a hate filled rant against those who want to protect a gentle and kind way of life.  It's just sad that so many have become part of a hateful death cult and have decided that hate and division are what they need to preach now.  He has followed Ted Nugent and Van Morrison into the abyss of hate.  I'm ashamed for him, as he has tarnished his wonderful legacy.  It's like learning that a dear friend has joined a neo-Nazi hate group and are lost forever to it.  Shame on you, John Mellencamp.  You were the next Bob Seger once.  I can't even look at you now.

Are you OK?  What the hell is this rant about?

Hadn't heard this  before, I like it. I know it's not cool to like his music, but I still do.

Why isn't it cool to like his music?

Just a couple of days ago, I remarked to my husband about the lack of John Mellencamp music on RP. Bill must have read my mind.

Thank you!! (Play more)

Also, you could play Billy Joel once in a while. I know his music is considered cheesy/outdated?, but it has a special place in my heart.

I wouldn't be so harsh to good ol' Billy Joel. Some might not like his music but I don't think it is outdated (and definitely not cheesy).
Yes, go for Billy J.  :)

Have to reply- me being born on October 7 also.  It's still a great song no matter what day you were born! Cheers
I was 33, getting married, and building a house when this came out.  Suffice to say that it resonated.

Oh... have no fear, it's cool.  This is a fantastic song from a forgotten, perhaps the best, part of his ongoing career.

Just a reminder

Breathe
Straighten up

Life is only here & now
I always felt bad for John. He was gifted with a great pop star career. But he wanted to be Bob Dylan. He's not Bob Dylan.
Great to hear on RP, have the album, lots of good tracks on it. Thanks Bill and Rebecca!

Me second!
New Mellencamp to RP anyway.  Me first?
