Well I'm Southbound, Lord I'm comin' home to you.
Well I'm Southbound, baby, Lord I'm comin' home to you.
I got that old lonesome feelin' that's sometimes called the blues.

Well I been workin' every night, travelin' every day.
Yes I been workin' every night, traveling every day.
You can tell your other man, sweet daddy's on his way.
Aww, ya better believe.

Well I'm Southbound.
Whoa I'm Southbound.
Well you can tell your other man, Sweet daddy's on his way.

[Guitar solo]

Got your hands full now baby, as soon as I hit that door.
You'll have your hands full now woman, just as soon as I hit that door.
Well I'm gonna make it on up to you for all the things you should have
had before.

Lord, I'm Southbound.
Yes I'm Southbound.
Whoa I'm Southbound, baby.
Said I'm Southbound.
Well I'm gonna make it on up to you for all the things you should
have had before.

I Agree!

Ok I’ve tuned into to this station only a few times and already heard this repeated. I like the song but there are hundred of allman brothers songs if you want to play them or something different. This station is supposed to be different!
Let's hear it for Chuck Leavell. One of the all-time greats.
Love it

Once again it is Friday afternoon. Way to get the party started

You are right but at sometime they  had to end it.
Ah yes, the old bumper music they'd use on the Phil Hendrie comedy radio show back about 2004, syndicated out of Los Angeles.
Allman Brothers are good at music.

Duh!  No shit...
HECKIN FUCK YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Spun this CD the other weekend and this album STILL stands the test of time. Just one jam after another.... so hard NOT to crack the volume to tinnitus levels!
RIP Gregg, Duane and Butch, yinz guys just plain ROCKED!!!
It's just that the vast majority of bands today don't even try things like this.

My gosh...that's what RnR is all about.

I'm old, but never saw them live until Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes were holding it down with Greg. And of course Susan Tedeschi made a cameo (this was before her and Derek were publicly an "item"). One of THE BEST SHOWS I've ever been to in my life.
First time I've been alone in my house in 13 months...and I turned it UP!
9 up to 10. Just cause. Just cause these boys just crushed it...continually! And, 30+ years later there really ain't too many that can even come close.

My driving song...Gregg at his best
Brilliant. Some terrific guitar work, piano and drumming too.

You didn't say who and how you were shagging. Do you have any pictures?
Smokin'!
They always get an 8 or above from me.   This one is a solid 9 in my book.
Never knew they were from Jacksonville. Go Navy, baby.

"What I already knew"? Oh, please.
So you hung with Gregg and Dickey extensively in the 70s and heard both sides, I'm sure.
Maybe start your comment with "In my highly biased opinion, based on no actual facts . . ."

just picked this up on vintage vinyl last week. the sound is just amazing, a musical epiphany.  {#Cowboy}

Wow. Southern R n R. This is so freakin good. My god, this use to be so common to hear  several bands playing this genre; albeit not this well.  But hey...they were trying.

The guitar work is soooooo good.  You can get high on it.

Last time RP played this I had to break out my album and listen to it. I forgot how awesome Gregg and Dickey played on this song.
There is no better for me

Gregg Allman will be playing at the Dana Point Doheny Fest in May!!  {#Clap}
Just bought an Allman Brothers greatest hits album and heard this for the first time (that I can remember, anyway.)  It immediately went onto my favorites playlist.  Great jam.

Mountain Jam is based on the Donovan original "There is a Mountain".

If they didn't, perhaps they should've.

Thanks RedGuitar.  I catch up 9 months later....

FWIW, I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment.

Not really something that I would choose to listen to personally, but if you don't end up tapping your toe or shaking your head to this one you're probably dead.

You must be going at it hammer and tongs with the speed of that backbeat. Watch you don't give yourself a heart attack, guy :o)

Nice, back to basics blues, the sort that never ages. Great stuff. 8 from the Nottingham jury.

So what is the highest honour that the USA can bestow on her citizens?  Did the Allman Brothers band members ever receive that reward?

Although it included Spectrum acoustics they used to put on great "Eat a Peach Christmas Boogie" shows back in the 1970's.

I don't get the two drummer thing either.

Great tune, nonetheless, although they were never the same after Duane's death.
nice.
Great tune. There's a KILLER version of it from last Summer's VA Beach show with the horns from Mofro sitting in.
this tune COOKS!!!!
Yup, the Allman Brothers produced some of the best dance, party, road music of the period. More please.
Can't. Stop. Tapping. Foot.
Great Jam, Love the Brother's. Always have and will. More please
NOW we're talkin ...
like watching a bicycle wheel spin, at some point the wheel seems to spin backward...

How lovely messy this tune is listening in headphones. What were they thinking with 2 drummer playing freely. Kick drum roller coaster nausea But I love it
The two-drum setup is essential to their sound. I'd prefer this to a synth-drum soundtrack beat with no soul. Listen to the Grateful Dead sometime, you'll hear a similar thing. Its no worse than a drum line in a marching band, really. What an organic, cool thing, as if the beat has its own life.
If this does'nt make you boogie, your dead.

Another one of the great tunes off Bros. and Sisters.
And here I was just thinking that I could stand to hear some Allman Brothers! Good work on picking up on those psychic waves from across the continent, Bill!
Great stuff!!!

i agree - the loss of Duane and Barry was terrible, but adding Chuck was phenomenal I recently got a copy of their show at the Nassau Coliseum, and Mountain Jam with a great keyboardist is incredible
