Too alarming now to talk about
Take your pictures down and shake it out
Truth or consequence, say it aloud
Use that evidence, race it around

There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He's ordinary

Don't the best of them bleed it out
While the rest of them peter out
Truth or consequence, say it aloud
Use that evidence, race it around

There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He's ordinary

Kudos, my hero
Leaving all the best
You know my hero
The one that's on

There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He's ordinary
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He's ordinary

well this aged like milk
Always thought "He's ordinary" was "Sound an air raid". Oops. Guess I was that guy yelling the wrong lyrics at the concert.

Dave Grohl is my hero :-)

Helped me get out of so many funky times it isn't even funny......and I never even saw him live.
Always cracks me up to realize the FooFighters' original drummer was BillG.
If you didn’t shed a tear watching Taylor’s son play this at his Dad's memorial concert, you have no soul. Absolutely incredible performance.

GOOD TUNE!  My lower limit is set to 7,  ...works for me!  I Don't make bad comments for tunes, because some RP listeners like every and any tune played here. I also feel that every RP tune deserves at least a 6, with very few exceptions!

I hate this immensely. It would be great if RP could just skip all the songs below a certain rating. Getting tired of the repetition.

Man, Taylor could get after it...RIP dude...
When I hear and see the doom, gloom, negativity of my beloved PNW, Seattle, Portland...I crank Soundgarden, Fleet Foxes, Taco Cat, Death Cab, Modest Mouse, Veder, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Decemberists, Everclear, Emancipator - list goes on -

and know that fog always lifts off the stormy sea and the coastline will soon shimmer in Sun.  Thank you RP, for the reminder.  Oh yeah, and Heart.

That's a shame.
In my finest Casey Kasem voice, "This song goes out to idiot_wind, RP's number one Foos fan"

Listened to his new book "The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music" (ready by DG himself - a bonus).  Growing up in the 70s-80s there was just so much about this that I could relate to, even as our personal stories/journeys were pretty different.  I laughed a lot and appreciated his way of humanizing a lot of the names we all love & respect on this channel.  Won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I came away thinking he's a very decent guy indeed.

You should strongly relate to them, as every one of your posts is the same.
Good tune! Severely overplayed on the radio! But, still Good!
Lyrics will always remind me of a former mentor. Nothing like having your bubble of misperception burst to bring you down to earth 🌎 !
oh no!

PSD!
After reading about Dave Grohl's drum battle with the young English girl last year, he will always be My Hero.  Very cool thing he did.  Very cool indeed.
I so agree w the thread here, especially idiot_wind, completely ‘meh’

The old 96Wave in Charleston would never invite them play at their annual WaveFest. I remember one of the band members calling into the morning show and asking why, end up in an argument with the morning DJ on the air.  Good memories!!

Watch out Jelani,

It's not politically correct to criticize this band.  This band is barely ordinary, especially compared to the breadth and diversity of bands from the 1970s.
Ho Hum.

Boring.

Same ole same ole.

Vocals always the same.
Lyrics always the same.
Guitars always the same.
Drumming always the same.

No slide guitar. No piano. No electric keyboards. No background vocals. No two or three part harmonies.  No brass. No different syncopation. No cryptic lyrics. No flute, accordion, violin or off the wall instrument. No blues sound.  No Latin sound. No trippy sound.  No funk sound.  No southern sound.  No Seattle sound.

NO SURPRISES. And this band has been around for 20+ years?   Egads!

Lotsa hate comments for a 7.1 rating.

That's awesome.
I have a lot of respect for Grohl as a musician and sort of entrepreneur.
What plays to his disadvantage is the amount of music that is published by FF. Some of the more classic hits do actually contain a hook or a riff that is well worth the praise.
This, however, gets paired to a whole load of songs that cannot differentiate themselves enough to be noticeable.
For Grohl, the adage of 'Live and let live' certainly holds truth. Likeable personality, of certain importance in modern musical history and outstanding multi-instrumentalist.
7 for me

I don't think it's especially overplayed (probably because because i stopped listening to commercial rock radio around the time i first discovered RP back in the Napster era .).
I especially like Dave Grohl. He seems like a solid dude.

Couldn't agree more.  Grohl's ethic is to uplift and give back than to be too cool for school.  If you (or any other RP'ers) are looking for movie recommendations, check out his film, Sound City.  It's a film documenting the famous recording studio and its staff, Grohl's introduction to it in recording Nevermind, his efforts to preserve its most famous console, and reuniting world class studio alum musicians in recorded jams.  You often find it online free to stream.

I'm a bigger fan of Dave Grohl than I am of the Foo Fighters, who are good but not great.
FYI:  "Foo Fighters"  were  UFOs that were spotted by  US bomber crews and fighter pilots over Europe during WW2.  ...Google it. ...very interesting

And ya wonder why RnR is dead/dying?

Oooh I don't like this and keep hearing more of this style so I'll go ahead and declare the whole genre as dying/dead because this does not fit my blinkered view of what constitutes RnR.
STFU and press PSD already!
I was almost sure we were about to hear that XTC are only thinking of Nigel...

Blasphemy I'm sure.

The saviours of RnR. So it's definitely dead. Grohl's compositional formula is too narrow, he belongs behind the drums. Being rock's mister nice fun guy isn't sufficient. Bit less Dave, bit more Josh. That's my opinion.

Not my favorite Foos tune --- that would probably be Rope --- but full credit to these guys for keeping the rock flame burning.
I liked Foo Fighters in my high school/college days. Not really my jam anymore though. Not even the nostalgia is doing it for me today.

So bloweth the wind off of the...
LOL!  The wiki page says they used to be known as "The Holy Shits" - HAHAHAHA!!!
Still at a 6 for this one though....Long Live RP!!
Why are these guys always screaming? It's too much for me. Like the previous comment says I want to like them but I just can't seem to get on board.
This sounds like CREED
<sarcasm> These guys are so good, they're playing at the Super Bowl. </sarcasm>
My heart felt so bad today when the distortion kicked in I felt better

Below what rating, exactly?  This is currently at average 7.

Just saw them recently here in St. Louis, great show. So much energy and just a good time.
DO NOT CHALLENGE the UNDISPUTED FIGHTERS OF FOO!!
FF are the "modern" rock as I like it : sharp, simple but not too much, great riffs and a solid rythm :)
Meh.
Saw them play live in Dublin with my boys around 2005 when FF where just at (or only slightly past) their peak and before Dave Grohl started shouting instead if singing his songs.

A great concert at a time when I thought my teenage boys would never see one of their (and my) favourite bands -  special moment for a proud father to have pulled this off.
foo fighters have should have their own genre. they're that good.

but ya, i can see that they don't fit the RP subculture that holds the belief that popular music should layered with complexities and nuances.

long live rock and roll!!!

That doesn't really follow.  It is evidence that their songs are distinctive, perhaps.

Could've sworn RP played this before this year. My favorite FF song.
There seems to be a logical argument that this song is about Kurt.  Dave has never said that it is but has said that it is about the punk era as he was embracing the movement and seeing all the people involved and the courage to just go out and start a band and get involved.  It lends itself more to his love for the music scene and all the folks involved than just one sentimental tribute. Inspired choice for Radio Paradise as always.  Keep up the great work - great station.
My Favorite song from my favorite album from my favorite band. Rock on Dave!
Love it!
Wow first time on RP? Great to hear it ....

and my rating of '8' raised the overall rating from 4 to 6.
