holy moly here i am just chillin at work through some end of day tasks, groovin to rp main mix, then this comes and blows my heart apart into billions of shreds so my eyes have to start sweating real hard, that's all

that's all

i'm fine
This song always stops me in my tracks. A hauntingly beautiful reminder that life is short and every days is precious.
Enjoy her music. She has a beautiful voice.

Dido is one whose commercial success is utterly, completely inexplicable to me. Every single song is the same monotonous, droning, faux-ambient mess as the last. The woman sounds like she downed a couple fistfuls of Ativan chased with a tumbler of tequila, woke up, and started to sing (or rather, "sing"). And if you see her live, it's actually shocking — she can't carry a tune in a catcher's mitt, and wanders around the stage looking confused. She is AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL.

Well, I wasn't planning on seeing Dido, particularly since her commercial success seems to have been a fad. But don't dump on her. By your own admission, she has a devoted following, so many enjoy her music. I'm not a member of that club but my tastes run eccentric but those songs resonated with the audience she intended. Anyway, I've no special claim to assert my aesthetic sensibilities are superior to anyone else. We like what we like. The rest is mental masturbation.

Well, the song's about a close person who died (maybe even suicide?). How on earth you are supposed to sing a song about that in an irish banjos and fiddles on the tables trotting tune?

Well, you could try.

Agreed.  I could easily go another 11 years without hearing her again.

I love the lyrics here, though, and I suspect that a lot of us understand where she's coming from...

edit: hello, troll...
Boring song.
All ye nay sayers - ye miserable C!$NTs.

Dido is awesome!
even though i respect the artist - i cannot help it, her voice is like an overdose of benzodines - put me out on the spot....

Too bad, Holborne.  Your loss.

It's also my upload.

Thank you!

Anything with a pulse will do, though trying to place Dido (brought to the masses by Eminem no less) outside the realm of "commercial waste" is like giving a song my Aimee Mann a 10 ... oh wait ...

Glad to see your rapier Internet wit is still sharp. ... oh wait ...

Uhh huh- You said Dido

Considering that it is about death (of her father, no less) that would be appropriate, no?

I'm glad you got the ham-handed irony.

Hang on, I'm sure some White Stripes or other commercial waste will come along and perk you up soon enough.

I have a friend named Dado, thats her last name but its what she goes by.  Never have found out what her first name is.

Why would you name your kid "Dido"?

{#Sleep} A real snoozer.

My thoughts exactly.  Here I was all ready to hammer down some criticism ("White flag" and "Life for rent" routinely annoy me to the point where I have to switch channels), but this was actually a beautiful, understated, non-annoying song.  7.

It is too bad some people are turned off by her "hits" and commercial success.  She is way beyond that. She is actually quite sublime.  Rare are those who can shorten the distance between one's head and one's heart, finding the right spot to touch with words and nuance.

Also, this is a pleasant tune.
