One more Greyhound running tonight
Biloxi, Mississippi bound
But I ain't ridin', let it go on by
I think I'll just hang around downtown
Went to my baby's house, didn't telephone
Strange car in the driveway, she was not alone
Now I'm out on the street, hurting down in my bones
Somebody's been robbin' my honeycomb
I can't look back, no memories
If that's the way she wants it, that's how's it gonna be
I never was one to keep hanging on
If the woman don't want you just leave her alone
But I think about it, and it tears me down
I find a little bar with a 7 and a Crown
I'm a dangerous man, drinkin' alone
And I feel like robbin' somebody's honeycomb
Daylight finds me out on the road
Hard rain falling but I don't feel the cold
I got a fire inside and it's burnin' deep
I got to let that woman and her new lover be
But he better not play you for a fool
I'd hurt somebody that would do that to you
I still got my feelings, they're burnin' strong
Somebody's been robbin my honeycomb
And I feel like robbin' somebody's honeycomb

Oh Clara, open your ears and embrace the deep sounds. I think you'll find that a great majority of women and men find that Tony Joe has a great voice.
Good instrumental. If a female sang like that she would get no airplay. .Why do men get away with bad singing voices?

Nothing wrong with his vocals. This isn't opera. It's about vibe. Such closed minded opinions constantly being thrown about around here.

I like the (albeit 6 years ago) comparison to John Martyn. I hear it. But maybe mixed with a bit of Ry Cooder?

For real? He's damn cool allright, but not as super-doopa as all that man, sheesh ; )
Great down 'n' dirty blues - ya can't beat it. Perhaps the USA's greatest ever gift to music :). 8 from the toe-tappin' Nottingham jury.

The immortal Rory Gallagher did a cover of a TJW song, "As the crow flies" on his epic Irish Tour album - got me really into TJ. The guy has it ...

Yes, Tony Joe, the "Polk Salad Annie" guy. I have a 3 CD set of some of his early work...love his bluesy funky guitar work.

Just realized Tony was the very first musician I saw live, back in high school days in 1969. He opened for Steppenwolf.

This is a fine album from the "Polk Salad Annie" guy.
Love it. Do I hear vibes of JJ Cale?

Surely you know Polk Salad Annie and Rainy Night in Georgia.
If no, you been livin' unner a stone, boy.
Didn't know him either, I like this song. Living far, under an amazing layer of stones and magma, opposite side of your world. I like RP for this, I can listen to the music of lots of bands that I wouldn't know otherwise.

Tony's been around a long time- big hits in the late 60's, early 70's (ever hear "Poke Salad Annie"?). We liked him a lot around Austin, and I'm really glad to hear he is still cooking.

Louisiana born and raised. Go TJW!

A sublime antidote to the preceding Brewer & Shipley mess. . .
I also like the other TJW track RP turned me on to, having thought Polk Salad Annie was all Tony Joe had in his bag 'o tricks. I was glad to learn differently a couple of years back when RP had him in pretty steady rotation.
