My two cents: this feels like a very rough draft of a song. You gotta wonder whether he's singing/whistling through some emotional pain--the upbeat outlook feels forced.

I too think this song sucks, but come on, Tex, this not a good thing to post. Your last sentence goes one step too far. Go ahead and delete it, we won't hold it against you.
I did a search to see which songs from this album were on the the RP playlist and was suprised with the results - almost any other track from the album is better than the 2 currently on the playlist.
"Dance Tonight", "Ever Present Past", "Mr. Bellamy", "Vintage Clothes", and "Feet in the Clouds" are the ones that really stood out to me.
Also, 2 of the three tracks from the 2nd disc of the extended edition are quite nice and would make better additions to the RP playlist - "In Private" and "222".
This song is a good argument for blind (or double-blind) tastings: knowing that this is Sir Paul certainly influences the ratings -- both ways.
Speaking of ratings
this song has a common rating quirk: the "4 notch," which I think is caused in part by its description. I think 4 should be "Barely Acceptable," "Tolerable," "Middling," "Sub-decent" or something else that suggests not-so-good (but not awful). "Acceptable" could apply to 5-7. Personally, I try to ignore the subjective descriptions and go with just the numerical score -- try but don't always succeed.
On the other hand, I may be over thinking this!
Absolute tripe.
Everybody's gonna sing tonight, la la la.
Everybody's gonna dance alright, la la la.
Musical genius.

I keep seeing the Apple commercial with 'Dance Tonight' - somehow, with the way they rendered him, he looks kinda scary. The few things I've heard from the CD are not very impressive.
Vaguely reminds me of the CG Orville Redenbacher. Not quite as creepy, but close.
I'm going with a comment of "Sappy".
I give it a 2. Paul avoids a rating of 1 only because he's Paul McCartney.
Lyrically shallow. Sentimentality oozes. The virtual singularity of the piano as instrumentation only highlights the lack of depth musically. And the whistling? Give it a break, Paul. This is dreck.

I rarely literally lol at Bill's comments, but that one was classic.
Now that the song is over I can add a bit more to my thoughts..
His voice is frail, the whistling sounded out of key for parts, and the overall song did nothing exciting or emotional for me. The end of the end, hopefully that means no more songs about the end of the Beatles or any other thing from another era that I have been born to miss.

Are you people serious?? This is a great song and the album i'm sure is fantastic. I'm not a fan of his at all but this could be the best stuff he's done since he left that other band he was in.
Hilarious.

i don't think i can say it any better than the rating i gave it does - sucko-barfo
Ultimate in schmaltz- appropriate for Paul McCartney, I guess. So are you allowed to write your own dirge?
Funny how when you're as old as Paul is now, death is "the end of the end", but back when they were all young and on top of the world, it was only the end of the beginning...
McCartney is such a simpleton. This song is classic self-parody. Omigod, the whistling! The whistling! If only Mark Chapman has obsessed on Paul instead of John!

Bill, your delivery of that line was so perfectly dry that I can't tell whether you think it does or doesn't suck.

The whistling was the nail in the coffin for me.
Contrived and melodramatic.
This is really terrible.
MAKE IT STOP! SWEET LORD, MAKE IT STOP!
They went through the whole album on WLS and we laughed our heads off! What was he THINKING making this POS?!
I don't like the production. His voice is so out-side of the music. It's over-top, completely separate, not a cohesive thing. The whistling is .. well, so obviously out of place against the sweeping piano movements.
Still, you can not deny the song-writing quality..
I know what I think...
Lord why bother, tedious and trying too hard, if this weren't Macca it wouldnt get air time anywhere

Can you listen to this without getting all misty? I can't.
My upload, probably because I'm a masochist, and it feels so good to know that something like The Beatles mean/meant so much to me.
"No reason to cry..."
i know what you mean.
i've heard several cuts from this, and enjoyed all of them.
my gosh, the lyrics to this one are amazing.
thanks for uploading!
