But...? Okay, just because my time machine's in the shop, I guess it doesn't mean that everybody is stuck without a way to subvert the time-space continuum.Evocative of Citizen Cope.

Elton John is pretty pumped up on Ron too!! https://www.ronsexsmith.com/forums/thread/6741.aspx
Another great best-kept secret Canadian singer-songwriter. He's playing as I type here tonight in Ottawa at the Bronson Centre. He was once touted as Elvis Costello's protege.

I like this song! Nice to hear Ron Sexsmith on RP.
I love Ron Sexsmith, but I can not in good conscience give this any more than a 7, only because I know of many better Ron songs.
How 'bout "Cheap Hotel"?

I had to look this up. The lyric is:

But I like your's better.
I used to live one block east of the first combination bookstore and coffee shop in the US. It was a place called Nickleby's in Grandview (suburban Columbus). I think Barnes & Noble caught on to the idea shortly afterward. Nickleby's eventually folded.

Me too. Kind of got an early Steely Dan sound in there now and then.
I saw him in Winnipeg a few years ago at a small venue. He stood at the back after the show and shook hands and thanked people for coming as they filed out.

I like this song. I seemed to remember another song being promoted as the "hit" (as indy music circles go) of the album. Does RP have anything from 'Cobblestone Runway'? That one's probably my favorite Sexsmith CD.

Dunno how bill did it, but I couldn't introduce this guy without giggling at least a little...
From Wikipedia:
Sexsmith has two children, a son (born in 1985) and a daughter (born in 1989).
Wow, I bet they don't get any crap in school.

Not a Sexsmith fan but I like this song a lot.
Bliss! Arianrhod wrote:

this song needs to be played more
'sexsmith' is a bit over the top though
Good song but far from the best one on this album. Ron is at least a generation too late. If he'd surfaced in the late 60's his name would be mentioned in the same breath with all the big boys of that era. A truly amazing talent. All his albums are great.
this guy is one of the best songwriters around today
Ron Sexsmith opened for Madelaine Peyroux in Fort Lauderdale about six months ago. I had never heard of him, but liked him immediately, more than Peyroux. Great lyrics!
Nah

Holy cats! I thought it was Ron Sexsmith, but couldn't really believe my ears! The dude is great when he's good.
OMG - Ron Sexsmith on RP!
Awesome - perhaps the topicality of the song is what helped it get through the brutal culling process.
Great song from a great (and underplayed) artist.
Yay.
