Deep underground
Somewhere beneath that green field
A very small sound
Faint but I think it's breathing
So afraid
To make that only move
Left hanging on hope
One finger to go
And slipping
You won't find me there
I walk a different way now
Treading on old ground
Gets me nowhere with you
You won't find me there
I walk a different way
I'm coming up for air
Deep underground
Somewhere beneath that green field
A very small sound
Faint but I think it's breathing
Don't ask me why
She spiraled
So far down
Wake up when you wake up when
These days are too long
To rise without good reasons
You won't find me there
I walk a different way now
Treading on old ground
Gets me nowhere with you
You won't find me there
I walk a different way
I'm coming up for air
Those ivory wings
Flow down stream
Ivory wings
Flow

Reminds me of the Farley Mowat biopic Never Cry Wolf. The main character is researching the decimated caribou population that was blamed on wolves. During his research, he realized that the wolves subsist mainly on mice. To determine that they are able to survive on just that, he starts eating the vermin as well (which is good, as his camp is overrun with them). There is a great scene where he is trying the mice for the first time and as he is getting ready to eat it, he notices that all the mice in his tent are looking at him. He starts eating the food with more & more gusto, which frightens the rodents. Good movie if you're into wildlife conservation.
My Second cousin plays Mowat. His "Boris And Natasha" movie is full of inside jokes for our family.

Based on the album cover, I'd expect it to be "Coming Up For Bear."

So, maybe you should lighten up, and take a toke of "life".

She can be on or off. I thought was terrific on the recent Jeff Beck @ Ronnie Scott's DVD (a must watch). You can see her on YouTube from that concert performing a stupendous version of Rollin' 'N' Tumblin'.
But then I heard a track here the other day from Imogen's new CD and it was very bland. It reminded me of Sade and how she had come on so strong in the early days of MTV, only to become repetitively boring (although her band cooked!), with every song sounding just like the last.
Sade's band for sure cooked. The Sade "Live" DVD features a really smokin band, with a relatively unknown drummer named Trevor Murrell who was just tremendous.

I getting very sick of Frou Frou...
The music pulses, buzzes, chirps, and swirls and all the while Imogen sounds like she is in total control. Great stuff.
That voice - I'm like a moth drawn to a flame . . .
The repeating baseline is pretty mean.

Nice big sound and a sweet voice. I've not heard of this lot before. Anyone got a URL for the band website? The RP link points to a distinctly non-musical LHB, and a Scroogle search doesn't find anything.

I used to work for a guy who did this. I'd bet money that the sales on amazon.com are drop-shipped from the UK anyway -- all the sellers are doing is proxying your request and keeping the markup.

I see your 2 cents and raise you 2 more. Having heard Imogen sing a capella, I can attest that her pitch is most excellent (as is this tune). Just a technique employed for an effect, with the delay, which strikes the ear odd at times.
I'm always up for Imogen, but the synth-stuff overpowers the mid-range to the point that the song sounds like an overly compressed MP3. Seems as though it could have been produced better. No, not by me...

Interesting song, I like it!

I had a difficult time finding a copy of this album. Even though it's highly thought of, it's been out of print for a while. No copies at Amazon or Amazon UK. Finally found a copy at Shock Records (click here) in Australia (gotta love the Internet). Price ended up around $28 USD which includes shipping.
I saw Imogen a couple of months ago. She started her set with an a capella piece that was mind blowing.
she needs to retitle the band, "GHB"
liking this a lot. . .

I wish I could go through life without sleeping... How DOES she do it??

Too funny! I do agree though. And I really do like this music too. Ah well, to each their own, I guess.
I must say...a lot of people bashing Kohldaddy for not liking this song and accusing him of disloyalty to RP. May I suggest:
1). To some people (including me) this song is reminescent of a bad stretch of music (the 80s) and that this track does in fact blow (IMHO)
2). Even though we like RP, it feels very good to bash a song now and again.
Please allow us this catharsis!

Sorry, I don't like it either. Personally, I don't dig this lastest superset of Euro-techno, as someone called it.
Ditto!

Boy Imogen gets around. Love it!

Though it is a nice album cover and I have a soft spot for Frou Frou... This blows. I mean really. Awful.
Enough of the electro-euro-crap. It's all like that nightmarish 1980s synethesizer "music." But on steriods. And more obnoxious.
Play some rock and roll. Play something with soul. Please!

Well, perhaps you've forgotten the point of these forums. Which is to allow all of us to express our opinions of the music, of RP, or each other for that matter. So KohlDaddy (or you) is perfectly welcome to dump on this song if he wants. And you're welcome to dump on KohlDaddy - or me! Fortunately the "eclectic" concept applies as much to the listeners as the music. And that is part of why I really like RP.

Some people seem to have forgotten the meaning of the word "eclectic". That's what RP is all about! You may not like every genre of music that Bill spins, but you know what, he does a pretty darned good job at playing very good takes of all the types of music that he puts out. I live in an area where on the conventional radio waves it is almost impossible to hear anything other than conventional "rock and roll". Might I suggest that if that is what you are interested in just tune your radio into your local WKRAP and leave your RP bashing at home.
The melody's isn't particularly good, but the track does have a neat "drive". More style than substance, but enjoyable to listen to nevertheless.
I like the beat of this song.
This sounds akin to "Soul Sloshing" by Venus Hum

Nice song - LOVE that cover!
Yeah, I thought it was Imogen before I read the other posts.
Hearing so much Frou Frou on RP caused me to go by their album yesterday! And it totally rocks!
Her voice is a big help in that regard; not that it's particularly masterful...just particularly artful.
