Maybe I've forgotten
The name and the address
Of everyone I've ever known
It's nothing I regret
Save it for another day
It's the school exam
The kids have run away
I would like a place I could call my own
Have a conversation on the telephone
Wake up every day, that would be a start
I would not complain of my wounded heart
I was upset, you see
Almost all the time
You used to be a stranger
Now, you are mine
I wouldn't even trust you
I've not got much to give
We're dealing in the limits
And we don't know who with
You may think that I'm out of hand
That I'm naive, I'll understand
On this occasion it's not true
Look at me, I'm not you
I would like a place I could call my own
Have a conversation on the telephone
Wake up every day, that would be a start
I would not complain of my wounded heart
I was a short fuse
Burning all the time
You were a complete stranger
Now, you are mine
I would like a place I could call my own
Have a conversation on the telephone
Wake up every day, that would be a start
I would not complain about my wounded heart
Just wait 'til tomorrow
I guess that's what they all say
Just before they fall apart
The name and the address
Of everyone I've ever known
It's nothing I regret
Save it for another day
It's the school exam
The kids have run away
I would like a place I could call my own

You know, the band's name was a pretty clear clue that this was no longer Joy Division back in 80 or 81. In the end, 2 different bands.
Other bands in Pop / Rock history not even changed its names after having changed theire music style… Fleetwood Mac, Dandy Warhols, Kings Of Leon etc… why should they? It's kind of cool to further develop.
However… Long live RP!

The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it,
but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

Not as many good songs on this album as others. Would like to here Run from Technique...as I think that better represents the newer New Order.
Much of their catalogue is brilliant.
This is not.
This is not.
another set of High Quality Radio thank you greatly
Sounds more like The Lightning Seeds
I like how this resonates with me on so many levels. When it came out I was running a private language school in the surreal seascape wilds of the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa, Japan; as in the lyrics of this gem, love often shows greatest promise just before it falls apart...

"Regret" about what happened to this band. There's no more Joy Division in any part of this track.

Can't carry a tune in a bucket, but they make it work any way. We liketed that shit. We drink that shit!
Still works for me...
Bubblegum.
bah. this is mediocre.
While not my fave disc, it's still great. I dig their first albums which were VERY close to Joy Division in their sound...a natural progression of punk and electronics.
Wow, just watched Control. Hard to believe this has anything to do with Joy Division.

Indeed it was. This is one of those bands that just slipped by me somehow. Oh well, can't keep up with everything, I guess.
Viva la Rebublic!

This takes me back to my first (and to this day, only) trip to the US back in autumn '93. I listened to this song on the plane.
I listened to this song on Virgin Airways flying to Europe in June 1994 to visit about six Euro cities with people from high school (educational tours, EF program) following graduation. Hanging with one guy friend made things more bearable. Got to talk to the penpals I had by phone, which was neat.
It would be really nice to go back. See the same stuff and more without a time constraint.
The Metallica slung guitar stance just never seemed to quite fit in with the style of music.

There as so many great NO songs - but this is one of my absolute faves - a little slice of perfect post-modern pop music.

Damn, I was going to just say how boring this song is, but this is a lot better so I guess I won't comment at all.
Yuck

Back in the 80's, their music did a lot to define what would become pop. Now, they just mimic the current trends in pop without actually having any popularity. The innovation is gone.
blablabla... great songs from an awesome band period!

Ahh, New Order. Pop music done exactly right.
Utterly sad and breathtakingly beautiful. One of my top 5 NO songs. 10/10

Wow! Haven't heard this since it was on the radio back in the day. I dig it.
All we need now is a song from the Style Council.

Reminds me of those days in the early 90's after the first real love of my life had dumped my ass for the last time and I was in that mindless wandering stage looking for new relationships, many of which were pointless and bad. I can remember many drunken nights pining away over the old girl, calling her on the phone, and feeling like a complete fool for doing so afterwards.
The word that most approximated that feeling....
Regret.

I should upload my copy of this.
I was such a big New Order fan 15-20 years ago. Sadly, they just sound dated to me today.
goodie .... :)

Very few bands hold up over time as well as New Order. This one's one of the best. You picked up my day. Thanks
Wow! What memories! I love it! \:D/
This was one of those tunes that just hit me the first time I heard it. That doesn't happen much anymore. Maybe I am becoming jaded.
Weird. I just came across an Afghan Whigs cover of this song. Serendipitous? :?

The first Electronic (Sumner & Marr, cameos by PSB) CD (self-titled) is very nice, especially the first half.
I like the first Electronic CD a lot myself. Raise the Pressure is much different. I actually like it, but again it sort of tails off towards the end. The one that came after that (Twisted Tenderness, I think the title is) is also very good. Probably my favorite of the three.

Nuttin wrong with this song, and since it is one of my uploads, I vote it a "10"!
How do you like new NO now?

Agree, there a so many more better NO songs out there. But to me, all NO songs have to grow and since I haven't heard this one many times it can still get better :)
Very nice. A really intelligent techno-influenced song.
This song makes my afternoon. Thanks
I would like some mace and a brand new comb.
One of the few post-'Brotherhood' New Order songs I like. It's a great one though...
RP could certainly use more Electronic and PSBoys.

What a great band that learned to evolve while still keeping an identity !!
I like both their first steps and their latest opus (Get Ready).
Tough I don't have a fit with Joy Division. How strange...

Goo call on the "Tour Silent Face". Perfect song and ideal for the RP show!
