Hooverphonic With Orchestra had Noemie Wolfs as the singer. The group has gone through so many singers over the years, any one voice will fit better with some songs than with others. For example, I prefer Geike Arnaert's voice on the original Mad About You.

I like the band choices, if not always the songs. This one pales in comparison to their best. And they had a good run of many good songs before petering out on the last 2-3 albums.

Not necessarily, though Dick Dale is known for his use of a Fender Stratocaster.  It seems like it's more of the high-treble (single-coil) attack of guitars such as Mosrites, Silvertones, and Danelectros, as well as a few different Fender models, with the reverb being set very deep.

Oooh new one on me.  Lovin it except the odd backing vocal from Stephen Hawking.

Then i look down and see i commented once before so maybe just didn't have a lasting impact.  Its hard with all the great stuff you hear on RP.

I agree with your praise of RP, but feel I should point out that Hooverphonic (website) are pretty damn big in the Benelux countries in Europe and tour extensively, and their music has been used on film soundtracks. Living in the UK I'd not heard of them prior to RP, for which much thanks as usual to Becky and Bill, but they are hot stuff in Belgium. Not that it takes a lot to be hot in Belgium... ;-)

This song spun off a 'concept album' called "Hooverphonice presents Jackie Cane" which isn't bad, but stretches the material a bit thin IMO. Worth having in the collection, though.

A solid 8 from the Nottingham jury.

Yes, there are echoes of Velvet Underground. This song sounds MUCH better faster, though. On my CD it sounds faster than here. Maybe you could speed it up artificially? Other songs also deserve airplay. The group is sheer genius. :D
