Back to you
It always comes around
Back to you
I tried to forget you
I tried to stay away
But it's too late

Over you
I'm never over, over you
There's something about you
It's just the way you move
The way you move me

I'm so good at forgetting
And I quit every game I play
But forgive me, love
I can't turn and walk away
This way

Back to you
It always comes around
Back to you
I walk with your shadow
I'm sleeping in my bed
With your silhouette

Should have smiled in that picture
If it's the last that I'll see of you
It's the least that you
Could not do

Leave the light on
I'll never give up on you
Leave the light on
For me too
For me too
For me too

Back to me
I know that it comes
Back to me
Doesn't it scare you
Your will is not as strong
As it used to be

In case anyone feels like revisiting their opinion... recently read an interview where Mr Mayer stated that he knew he had to 'sell his soul' for the first few albums so that he could fund the unabated production of the music that he really wanted to make. Check out Continuum (2006) and the John Mayer Trio albums (good ole rocky-blues) and try not to judge him solely by the early pop stuff that has clouded so many people's opinions. There is magic in there - for me anyway {#Good-vibes}
Funny.....when I uploaded this tune on or about Jan 12, 2002 ...it was pretty well recieved in the reviews. Move forward a couple of years....and Mayer goes from virtual obscurity to fame, fortune, and allot of tower airplay. Now look at the comments. Almost all sour. heh heh ....Just an observation.
On my way home in the car, I just heard the NPR interview with this guy and I had to rush home to my computer to find out who he is because the interview was SO AMAZINGLY ARROGANT! Wow. Then I came over to RP to see what listeners thought of him. Turns out, quite a bit less than he thinks of himself.
A 6.8 rating for this schlock?! Unfreakin\' believable! I\'m ashamed for RP listeners.
... zzzz .... must stay awake long enough to comment that song is boring ..... zzzz
does this xander-lookalike only have one song, or do they all just sound EXACTLY THE SAME?
This guy is so utterly boring.
*falls asleep* Oh, sorry, it was all that white noise RP was playing. What\'s that, you say? It was a song? Surely you jest!!

Hey Thanks for the upload!! After hearing it on RP I bought the CD & can now listen to this & other songs as much as I want.

Uh For the record. You're welcome heh heh :D
It\'s a pretty \"nice\" song, but it\'s also probably the most generic of the songs on a really terrific album. \"3x5\" or \"Your Body Is Wonderland\" are the two best songs off the album ... ya gotta play those!
this has a lush, cool sound.
Great song, good feel. By no means a comparison to Dave Matthews......one can actually understand the lyrics to this tune. For the most part, it\'s a wonderful album. Hope John Mayer comes out with another set soon.
A wonderful song from a wonderful album. My CD's almost worn out. If you don't like what some may call "light rock" with amazing lyrics, turn the volume down and quit your cryin'!
not sure which version was played (i\'m commenting only after seeing the listing, but i know the song well). the version on the major-label debut (\"room for squares\") is OK, but the original version (on his indie recording \"inside wants out\") is a lot more sparse and, to me, more moving. i heard a snippet of the original version over the credits of some show on MTV two years ago and have been listening to it ever since. definitely worth a listen if you can find that album. FWIW, john freely admits to copping the riff for this song from \"every breath you take\" (though he dislikes being compared to dave matthews -- it is coincidental, not deliberate, that their voices sound somewhat alike).

The harmony is what I heard. I heard the piece when I wasn't listening. I tried to ignore it, but it just had too much texture. Melody or no.
am I the only one who hears a Dave Matthews rip-off in this? Just curious.
Heard this 1 time & had to get the cd. There\'s not 1 track on it that I would skip. Thanks Bill for turning me on to yet another new artist.
I was in a local bookstore after this guy had given a small concert. The problem was he was in the section that I needed to browse. While he was busy signing autographs, I tried to access that section of the store. I was then accused of trying to sneak in too close to him by the \"back stage\" staff. They couldn\'t believe that I had no idea who this guy was and that I just wanted a book. So while I continued to peruse the section for my title of interest. I was glared at every suspicion. :D

Agreed. Not really offensive but totally uninteresting.
MOR? Maybe, but a good one in that category, I think. There's gotta be 'middle of the road music' to know the difference between that and all the music coming from the alleyways, short cuts, fast lanes, etc. (which mostly ends up at the middle of the road as well, btw).
MOR muzak - this song was just on and I\'ve already forgotten the melody
enjoy the album, terror! i picked up my copy several weeks ago, and every durn track on there is just as good as or better than this one.
wow ... Just ordered the cd.
Beautiful song, wonderful and soothing voice.
John Mayer is a new up and coming artist out of Atlanta who is very talented and great to see perform live. Good talent, and thanks for airing him Bill.
Very soothing tune. Thanks for picking this one up Rebecca/Bill. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
