Rain, rain, rain, a wicked rain
Falling from the sky
Down, down, down, pouring down
Upon the night
Well there's just one chance in a million
That someday we'll make it out alive
Rain, rain, rain, an evil rain
Falling all the time
Sun, sun, sun
Sun don't ever want to shine
Well there'll be no light in the morning
Till some peace at last we find
Like travellers in the darkness
Can't see our way
Trying hard to make it through
Another day
Father, father, father
Why do you let your sons go astray
Brother, brother, brother
Why must we go on this way
There's a storm off in the distance
And it looks like it's here to stay
Rain, rain, rain
Rain, rain, rain
Falling from the sky
Down, down, down, pouring down
Upon the night
Well there's just one chance in a million
That someday we'll make it out alive
Rain, rain, rain, an evil rain
Falling all the time
Sun, sun, sun
Sun don't ever want to shine
Well there'll be no light in the morning
Till some peace at last we find
Like travellers in the darkness
Can't see our way
Trying hard to make it through
Another day
Father, father, father
Why do you let your sons go astray
Brother, brother, brother
Why must we go on this way
There's a storm off in the distance
And it looks like it's here to stay
Rain, rain, rain
Rain, rain, rain

Check out the Latin Playboys for a more freeform musical experience.
Saw these guys at the Bull Run in Shirley, MA with a beautiful woman and yes it was a great night.
can't get enough of los lobos.
Good tune!
Bill, play new Los Lobos.
If you like this song I recommend the version these guys do with with Bobby Womack on their album 'The Ride'.
Took my kids 15,8,3 to a Los Lobos show at this great small outdoor amphetheater at a local winery that usually has cover bands (which are usually pretty great as well). We got to lean against the stage and watch the pros play. I already liked and knew a lot of their work but was floored, one of the best shows I've ever seen.
I love this album. Still my favorite from them. This is one album I would take to a deserted island!
In the midst of Covid-19 we have lines like ...

I agree, but Tin Can Trust and Good Morning Aztlan are right up there in contention. Also "This Time" has some really interesting stuff on it. "The Town and the City".....Well I guess I will stop there
Kiko was an adjustment when it came out - and I now think it is their masterpiece!

There is something in the vocals reminding me of The The.
You may want to check out medley of "Wicked Rain / Across 110th Street" that they did on their album "The Ride" with Bobby Womack as guest lead vocals.
i Fu**' in L.O.V.E. it !!!!!
Bad a— album
I crank this all the time and ask my friends to guess what band and all I get is blank looks.

brings to mind an old favorite, Rain Rain Rain by the Sir Douglas Quintet 1966
I haven't heard this before either- very enjoyable.
wow. first time I've heard this tune. superb.... these guys can do no wrong!
The supernatural imagery in the title track is superb.
This is great. I thought it was the Arctic Monkeys for a little bit.
Vintage Cesar Rojas—gutbucket rock'n'roller who apologizes for nothing. Nada.
Love this album a lot; I think it's a favourite of Bill's to.
Amazing song from one of the best albums of all time. I can't believe it's been 20 years since this came out. Rock on Los Lobos!

Hoping that will be in the future - we all could probably relate to the subject. Right now, it's 89 degrees, and no relief in sight here, but I'd love to hear a "snow" song...
Do they have a song called "Wicked Snow"?

Haha, good choice, Bill! It's rainin' WICKED in LA tonight...
Los Lobos continues to demonstrate their versatility - this is different from some of the stuff I've heard them do, and it's definitely a departure from "Will The Wolf Survive?" I really love their music.
My kids were 10 and 8 and listened to the CD nonstop. I found out Los Lobos will be coming to a music festival our town has each year. I'm pumped. The kids, who are now in their twenties, will be in town for that one ;^)
Very nice!!
Nice. And just as the rain starts falling in Alice Springs for the first time in months...
Just turned up the subwoofer. Their best album.
The bassline sure sounds like "Smooth Criminal" to me. Inspiration, mayhaps?

I said it on another thread, but another thanks to RP for making me pay attention to these guys. Great stuff!!

Yes! Spotlessly clean stuff!!

I have Kiko and, although none of the songs contain my favorite elements of music, the album is so good and so unique all the way through that I recommend it to all my friends.

Yes, that's perhaps my favorite, although I haven't heard the latest two they've put out.
This is still my favorite Los Lobos album.
one of the more under-rated bands i know of. i especially love this album and this song in particular.
OK Bill,
We know you love Los Lobos... give 'em a rest.
Belize??!!!
Los Lobos is an accomplished genre-bending band that does Latino roots music as good as anyone, but to me they are emphatically Borderlands and el Norte de Mexico. I don't see how you get Central America from this or other of their songs. In my travels around southern Mexico and Centroamerica I usually get a mishmash of cumbia, musica tropical, trovas, the usual salsa and merengue borrowed from el Caribe, and of course the everpresent Latinpop. Shoot, Belize has more musical connections with reggae and Jamaican dancehall than it does with the rest of centroamerica.
Maybe I am taking you too literally. But I do think its important to get our words and imagery right with what other places are really like.
At any rate, LL is one damn good band.

ANSWER: Los Lobos is one of the few popular bands I listen to that has a powerful central american feel...like you have travelled to Belize or Southern Mexico. The work is unusual sounding, with solid musicianship and somehow strangely accessible. As a composer, I listen to LL to absorb the eccentric timing, instrumentation, and the vivid imagery of their dreamlike lyrics.

Though I like Los Lobos, this song does nothing for me, and upon repeated listenings (too often repeated I might add) it has failed to grow or show me anything. So for those of you who like this song so much, what is it that you would tell me to listen for?

What he said. I agree.
I find Kiko odd, but brilliant.

Now that's a bassline. (as a bass player, i appreciate the minimalist, clean, supportive line there... dead on, strong, and clear. It holds the whole piece together)

Still another thing I love about Tucson: the Lobos visit every year. Hopefully, they won't be doing a duet with Everlast or Rob Thomas any time soon...
Great band, likeable tune.

I saw Los Lobos at the Coffeehouse at UC Davis a little after Will the Wolf Survive came out. Cannot overstate how great the show was and in such an intimate forum. Los Lobos is one of the most underrated bands around. David Hidalgo may be the soul of Los Lobos, but you can hear here that Cesar Rosas is the balls.
I agree - Cesar has always been my favorite Lobo.
Agreed. Taken as a whole, Kiko is an outstanding album.

A song like this seems to be strengthened by the other songs on Kiko. So maybe it'll help when you listen to that album as a whole and not just to only one song on it.

...Just what the rating says - Decent - 5/10
