The personnel! With FM it's easy to concentrate on the guitar players, but damn - Mick and John are going to town!

Now, find me a Fleetwood Mac "tribute" band that plays this and I am there!
RIP Danny Kirwan, one of the most underrated guitar players and songwriters ever.  Thanks for the music Danny!
a rare 10
Once upon a time, I was wandering down Front Street in Lahaina, Maui, with a couple of buddies.  That wasn't unusual; for four years, I was a crewmember on the USS Tunny, a 'fast-attack' submarine  based in Pearl Harbor.  The sub actually went to Lahaina twice, and us sailors learned that Lahaina was a happening town.  We returned often when we could.

Well, we were wandering past the Lahaina Yacht Club and I dared my buddies to go in with me.  To assuage their concerns that we'd be unceremoniously (and immediately) tossed back into the street, I promised two rounds on me.

The place was empty, and the bartender was eager for company.  We chatted for a few minutes, guzzled our beers (sailors!) and a Fleetwood Mac song came over the stereo.  The bartender says, "Yeah, Mick and his crew were in here last week.  He has this big wooden yawl named Challenge, and always stops in for a few days when the boat's here."

"He had these long-sleeve t-shirts printed up for their cruise," he continued,  pointing to a rack of t-shirts illustrated by a sailboat being steered by a teddy bear, with Challenge: Pacific Cruise 1978 emblazoned on the right sleeve.  "Those are leftovers he donated to the Club.  You want one?"

Each of us bought one, finished our beers and headed out the door.  Now, however, we were wandering with a purpose: impostors pretending to be Mick Fleetwood's professional sailing crew.
Christine Perfect!  True dat.......
How can you not chair dance to this? 52 years old and it ROCKS! :D

Jefferson Airplane, from the folky music of "Takes Off" to the freewheeling psychedelia of "Crown of Creation" and "After Bathing at Baxters"

This is the first 'post Peter' album...
Was this just after Peter Green left?
Good Tune!

I knew of this when this came out, so roughly 50 years before I joined RP.  And I had Buckingham/Nicks shortly after it came out.  I feared I would lose two of my favorite bands when they joined, but they made a lot of fine music together.  Perhaps not quite up to this standard,  but very little is.
Having said that, RP has been a revelation with new artists, listening to songs from bands I'd heard of but never listened to and listening again to songs I'd lost touch with years ago.

Thanks BillG for keeping this stuff alive.

You will be rewarded. I have the opposite experience - grew up with early FM and eschewed the BuckNicks era. After 40 odd years I'm realizing I'm only punishing myself and have started to dig into that 'newer' trove of music. I think I will also be rewarded.

This album is the first post-Peter...
I guess the singer could be singing to a long cool woman in a black dress called Holly, which came after!
The best Mac album 9
Nice, new to me.  I was surprised that it was Fleetwood Mac, then I remembered, oh yeah, THAT Fleetwood Mac.  Cool.

Pink Floyd. Early stuff very hard rock. Acid rock some tunes. By Animals, different sound. By Wall, well, you know.

Remembering when this album came out!  17 yrs old and rockin!!

Reminds of a college prank.  We felt a girl in our circle was making WAY to much out of her relatioinship with her teddy bear, so we borrowed it for an afternoon and shot Polaroids portraits of him - his foot dangling above an knocked over stool, his lower torso sticking out of the oven, etc.   She did not think it was funny, but, like so many artists, we were creating for ourselves, so it did not matter.
I have Tusk, because I  bought it new, but the Bare Trees I acquired some years ago is more  favorite. My FM LP collection is gonna grow in the pre-Buckingham/Nicks days.

Now this is what I call Fleetwood Mac.

Oh yeah.   These guys once played RnR.

Actually quite well.
Dang it!  That little bell ringing thingie in the mix sounds just like the Facebook DM chimey.  I heard it and immediately picked up my phone.  Whoda thunk that Danny Kerwin or his producer could predict such a thing in the 1970?  I tell ya,
The late great Danny Kirwan, along with Jeremy Spencer, neither of whom are featured in the photo opposite.  Awesome.
ROCK IT MAMA mmm mmm ummm

When Fleetwood was definitely Mac.
Had this album and think it's the best work this band ever played.

Great tune. I bet ZZ Top could do a good version of this {#Dancingbanana_2}
Only Mac album I own. It is a good one.
Some tasty cowbell on this.

Great song by one of the most underrated guitar players of all time, Danny Kirwan. Another unfortunate casualty from the early days of the Mac, the real Fleetwood Mac.
Great tune. But the lyrics are too complex for me. {#Nyah}
{#Dancingbanana_2}such a great tune ! if u listen carefully u can hear Christine perfect-mcvie on piano and singing even tho she is not credited on lp ie she still under contract with chicken shack at the time / what a gem !
Been a long time since I pulled this one out - it is on my list for tonight - nice pick Bill
Somewhere buried away, I have my original LP of this.  One of my favorite albums.  This song is a great highway tune!

Same here, but it's me and my daughter. I have nothing past Heroes and she starts with Rumours. I have hopes she will see the light.....
{#Bananasplit} both spencer and kirwin swapping zesty riffs NICE!
Crunchy guitar  {#Yes}  A1
Yes, all three albums rock! Under the radar ;-) And let's not forget 'Tango In The Night" {#Cool}

That's exactly right.  Sometimes bands don't necessarily morph into a more improved version.  They became more famous and sold a lot of albums but their older stuff is superior in my opinion.  Thanks for resurrecting this stuff for us RP.  Helps the newer generation or lesser astute learn about the true depth of talent in this group!

Yup, this is the 'latest' FM album I own, on vinyl. After this,  ...nope. "Kiln House" is an extraordinary album end-to-end and makes a dreamy afternoon played back-to-back with "Then Play On."

I think Peter Green misses Peter Green. He was such a good looking guy with so much going for him before he became ill.
But he's begun playing again as far as I know.
For a while in the 80's or 90's he lived in a village a few miles from here, in Skåne, south Sweden.
I still miss Peter Green
That funky, rockin, bluesy, semi-psychedelic guitar just blows me away...

The strength of this and most great artists is not to repeat themselves. While Christine's vocals are pretty distinctive, they managed to make most of their compositions diverse. So, don't go looking for another song just like this, but do check out their early work. I think you will be happy you did.
7 to 9

Gotta find the LP in the pile and drag it out again soon.
Bop til you drop...
Love the crunchy guitar.  (I promise I am not in the habit of calling a song "crunchy".  In this case, it seemed like the right word to use.)
{#Bananajam} — rockin it baby — {#Dancingbanana_2}
They don't make music the way they used to!!!
Great album! Listen to Future Games and Bare Trees, from the same FM era.
Surprised that I haven't already corrupted this thread with my usual comment:  This was when the band was GOOD -- before she-who-shall-not-be-mentioned turned them into a mindless pop group.

I vote 10!  Because you'd be hard pressed to find such tasty guitar work in anything today.
Kiln House is an excellent overall album.  First post Peter Green album yet a great blend of blues, ballads and rock!

Never got around to getting this album. Now I'm wishing that I had. Back on the todo list it goes.

For some reason I've been listening to a lot of early Fleetwood Mac recently - had "Mystery to Me" on the headphones while coding yesterday. Looks like I need to cue up "Kiln House" today . . .
