Be-bop-a-lula, I don't mean maybe
Be-bop-a-lula, she's my baby
Be-bop-a-lula, I don't mean maybe
Be-bop-a-lula, she's my baby love
My baby love, my baby love
Well, she's the girl in the red blue jeans
She's the queen of all the teens
She's the one that I know
She's the one that loves me so
Say be-bop-a-lula, she's my baby
Be-bop-a-lula, I don't mean maybe
Be-bop-a-lula, she's my baby
Be-bop-a-lula, I don't mean maybe
Be-bop-a-lula, she's my baby love
My baby love, my baby love
Well, she's the one that gots that beat
She's the one with the flyin' feet
She's the one that walks around the store
She's the one that gets more more more
Be-bop-a-lula, she's my baby
Be-bop-a-lula, I don't mean maybe
Be-bop-a-lula, she's my baby
Be-bop-a-lula, I don't mean maybe
Be-bop-a-lula, she's my baby love
My baby love, my baby love
Wow, real R&R recorded on maybe 4 tracks, someone will correct me on that, that gives it a 1950s sound.
I had a Gene Vincent compilation album ages ago with this song on it. A simple song about his baby in original R&R.
Great stuff.
2 tracks, at most. Maybe just the one.
Back when a great recording required not just talent & skill, but luck as well. You don't punch in a new vocal track on an Ampex 350...

I was 10 years old and secretly listening to rock & roll on my AM radio at night. Mom & dad didn't approve of that kind of music.
I also was ten. In DENMARK! no such music here. We starved!
Never saw him in person, too young to get into the venues where he played.
This song makes me picture cruising around Sandy Shores in Grand Theft Auto V in a rusted VW Bug.
More likely a Ford Fairlane.

i always thought this was buddy holly.
Can't believe this isn't Elvis.
Elvis was takin' notes when Rockabilly pioneer Vinnie came out -- watch early vids of Vinnie & Blue Caps and then Elvis' Jailhouse Rock vid.

I wonder why....

its always been about freedom and energy
this cat daddy founded it
My Dad served on the same ship but years after (Amphion)
Cool!
I thought Buddy Holly too. I can hear the Elvis that others hear too.
RP is such a great aural gymnasium!

Your lucky. In my country there was none of this on the radio
Shows me how good the original is. :-)

Please google Link Wray
Me too right until now
Wonder if this song had anything to do with it.
I agree hit the next button
Guess you haven't heard of Link Wray.
Really? By what logic have you determined that?
Slightly worn round the edges but still useful.
Reporter: Mr Lennon, are you a Mod or a Rocker?
John: I'm a Mocker
Actually that was Ringo's line.
Little Known Fact: Mods and Rockers often jumped ship

John: I'm a Mocker

Too bad my parents were too square to dig this.....
I used to drink in a pub where the barman claimed to have seen Gene take a leak, only noteworthy because Gene was still standing at the bar.
NB: This is real rock.
Great story!

Gosh Grandpa - What's a "78"?

Ok, Ok, I know what they are, but I didn't come along until 45's were all the rage!!
I was a little after Mr. Vincent's time, but I still like it - gets an 8 from this young whipper-snapper

West Coast, So. Cal - you bet! Great dance tune.
KRLA, KFWB, KHJ, ROCK ON......
Gee, I know what you mean. The quintessential. The headwaters. Protoplasm. The origin of the species.
Do you think, however, that since "ground zero" has taken on, or been given, an altogether different reference by the branding propagandist media types, you might opt for an alternate metaphor next time?
If they have, then why not take the term back?

OH SHIT, right...because nobody can use the term "ground zero" ever again after September 11, 2001. Totally reasonable. Carry on talking about music.

Always gets me singing & dancing!
I don't know, but this, Elvis, anything similar always seems to get under my skin. Just not my cup of tea, kinda like country music..ha.
I can appreciate those who enjoy this, I am just not one of them. But, that is why I have a mute button. :)
Some schoolin happened today...
Yeah!
In fact, Lennon's cover on his solo Rock and Roll album is possibly the most faithful cover song I have ever heard - John probably had been singing it Gene's way since the first time he heard the song way back when before he was famous.

Maybe it means the same thing as whang dang doodle (all night long).

There weren't very many FM radio stations back then (at least not in the US); the ones which did broadcast primarily played classical music. Gene Vincent was played on the radio in some parts of the US in the 1950's, but it was likely broadcast by AM stations.
Thanks for the INFO..
My first stereo radio/record player....1964..I had one wheel to wheel tape recorder some years before that.
First FM broadcasting in Sweden..1947.

Didn't know that. Cousin to Billy "Crash" Craddock.

And what Jelani said

Get off my lawn, ya little whippersnapper! (Not actually a grandpa...yet.)
Same here, though I just caught the very end.

No words better stated.
