The elevator in the hotel lobby has a lazy door
The man inside is going to a hotel room
He jumped out right after seeing just the very sight of me
He decided he better hike it to the second floor

It's temporary, this place I'm in
I permanently won't do this again
My belongings scattered all across the hotel floor

An hour later I was thinking it over by the snack machine
I thought about you and a candy bar
Now and later now that I've got it stuck between my teeth
I fell asleep to the greatest movie of the year

A man gets lonely for heaven's sake
He's wondering only what did you do today
The world spin around me to old sad song

Well, it's coming down outside like I've never even seen before
I fell into some kind of sorry state
But looking back now I think it's finally time for me to laugh about it
And get my things together and find something to say

Well I feel awful, and I believe
That time gets wasted in this misery
And darlin, I would never want to come back home

I always feel like this song is about a man having an affair.  I'd be curious to know anyone else hears that.
It's a nice song.

Think of wallowing as a full body cleanse; all that exfoliation; the grittier the mud, the better.

I can see where you are coming from. But damn, the guitar in Guitar Man is fantastic! Sure would like to hear it played on RP.

My favourite version is the Phil Everly one, there's a nice story told by Albert Hammond around Phil and the inspiration for the song.
This song brings vivid memory of Summer of 2010. Almost 12 years passed, but why not laugh in Time's face. It's no use, but it's not forbidden either.
Been a very long time since I've heard you guys play this one.  Thanks.  I love this band.   :)

RP plays a lot of great music. I suppose that wouldn't be as well appreciated if there weren't some tripe to compare it to...{#Cheers} If I get out of this quarantine in one piece, there's a phat donation coming to Bill and Becky.

Kind of a nice segue from The Shins "Turn On Me"
Love love love BoH! Play more of them, please!

10 years or so into RP at age 54 and I feel the same way.  I'm a voracious music consumer and RP still plays stuff all the time that I have never heard or just forgot about.  I'm never disappointed when I tune in.

After not hearing this for a while, I realized I really like it. 6 -> 8

While listening to this song, I hear your point. I think my preference for Band of Horses stems from a belief that this band's singer is better. My Morning Jacket tends to overproduce the music around their singer's voice.

These bands are on a spectrum (alt-country rock? you tell me) that includes my current fave, Lord Huron.

I must have been on the same space voyage with you because that is exactly how I feel.

this is an earworm song...I'll hear it early tomorrow as I make coffee, much against my will
I like Band of Horses. Ghost in my House and Funeral are fine tracks. But this one....what the hell does the song title signify? No reference to such in the lyrics, which seem kind of lame anyway.

Like! {#Clap}
Stupid! retarded lyrics. Shallow substance.

I was wondering why it was possible that they didn't score a deserved 8 - 9.
Now I know, not everybody is completely flebbergasted by them in a good way.
Check them live and maybe you will get 'the feeling'.
And yeah they got my 10 :)
There are very few songs I hear on RP that I absolutely despise. This is one of them. PSD>>  PDQ.

The harmony is OK, but these lyrics are from a book entitled "How to Write Bad".  Sucko-barfo.

Actually, this song has ratings pretty heavily weighted to the upper end. There are plenty of other songs in RP rotation that have a very polarizing effect, but this one isn't one of them. I'm always amused when I see songs where the ratings form a very clear inverted bell curve - with most of the scores in the 1-2 range and in the 9-10 range. And I'm doubly amused when it seems that my favorite bands fall into this polarizing category - Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins, etc...

Band of Horses is a consistent 7 for me. Another in a long list of good bands to which I'd be oblivious were it not for RP.
Good Harmony
Very nice tune!
La la la di dum di da di do...just singing along until I learn the lyrics. {#Angel}
I enjoy the music of this band

It grows on you, like the band. Simple but effective. Optimally listenable if not quite worthy of a zillion repeats.

I wouldn't call Band of Horses brilliant, but I do get a warm and happy feeling everytime I listen to them. The albums are also easy listening from beginning to end. Solid 8 for this one :)

Sarcastically mocking someone who expresses opinions contrary to yours (at least I'm guessing you are one of those "USA is #1 in all things" people) does not address the legitimacy of their argument.

Christmas is a sweet-naive tradition -

Still - I hope Bill takes the chance
