my wife and I own a small bike shop in Kentucky. Its our slow season and the shop is just deserted. When this song came on I walked over and she gave me a hug. Turned into a slow dance through the vocals. What a treat. Thanks Bill.

It’s in my dreams to have a small business of any sort like a little restaurant or a cool bar in Italy where I can just play radio paradise and let the public enjoy what Bill has to offer. I’m sure your shop is even more cool because of RP. Great story, god bless you.
Radio Paradise introduced me to this song several years ago. It is still a part of my "Chill" playlist I listen to at the end of a stressful day. I just wish it ran a little longer. Like maybe an hour or so longer.
I'd like to know who doesn't like Nick Drake and John Martyn

This is such great news Mr. Redfern!  The very best of luck with the new album.  From what I've heard so far it sounds incredibly inspiring :)  Best wishes from Devon (UK)

oh, man. i'm sorry.
it's making me remember what a tough thing i had to do on monday after work: put my 17 yr old siamese cat down. she loved the sun. she followed it around the house. these lyrics got me.
this song sets such a somber longing tone, love it . . .
I love this song. perfect for my current mood

Love the sultry sax on this track.
love LOVE this song
NICE! A little bit mellow for my tastes, but nice!
Sick sax beats
Listen to this wonderful record, it's a real gem.
This is a very lovely thing.

He looks 17 on the cover!

This is really nice
Oooh, I thought this was going to be a Bruce Cockburn song, but no. Love so far. Hi from Portland, Oregon. Beautiful day here. Lovely time to be hearing some Radio Paradise. I love the world/eclectic mix.

That´s exactly how I fell too.
I stop whatever I´m doing only to close my eyes and let me dream a little good dream
This is GREAT stuff  Loved it before, bumped up to a 9...!
I hear this song for the first time. Beautiful!
I can't believe this song is already 17 years old.  It's still in my "new music" playlist.  Time flies past 25.
What is it about this song?  Every time I hear it I think it's better.  So rare for me.
So beautiful laid back warm
9 > 10
Redfern's voice reminds of Jon Anderson of Yes.

Same here....enough to go 8 to 9 today...although we just had a few days in the 80s here, and today looks like a regular mid-June day in the PNW....so maybe I Miss the Sun is why...still...Long Live RP!!
This song gives me the feels big time.
Just beautiful. Big Zappa influence here? Listen to Blessed Relief off Frank's Grand Wazoo masterpiece

Now and then a song really hits the spot.

Missed you Jon ... glad to hear you're still on the playlist.
This song reaches out and grabs me every time it's on here.
Reminiscent of Chris Whitley's (RIP) Hotel Vast Horizon release, which was 4 years-ish prior.
I like this song.  And the cover art looks like home.

The theme of loving the sun and counting the days dreading the loss of the sun in the winter strikes a chord with our way of life here.  In fact, maybe this should become the Alaska state song.  I like it better than the current Alaska Flag Song.
Superb. Thanks Bill.

NOT THAT BIG... I've been listening to Zappa's stuff (and it's huuuuuge) for quite a bunch of years and... no, IMHO, maybe little influence but moods are SO different.
7.4 for a "jazzy" tune.... a miracle!
Still a 9 for me.
Really nice! Thanks Bill.
Listening to the song my thoughts go to one summer, at the river side in the south of France, children playing, sounds of water and birds...
Thought it was Bruce Cockburn at first. Nice transition into uniqueness.
lucky me, I just PSD away from Yes
very nice!

The music reminds me a little of Oliver Nelson, who was a saxophonist and arranger.  He played and arranged a lot of tunes in non-standard time and often played a "spitty" sounding sax like this has.  I imagine this guy has a lot of influences though. Nice tune.
Tiresome boring 💤
A simple, and simply, beautiful piece.
Still a good 9 for me.

Today was my day off... but I must work anyway... boring... but Bill makes my day a better day thanks to his selection.

{#Notworthy} Bill.
Love it
Liking this more on second hearing. Sounds like some older "classic" Jazz tune. And I mean that in a good way.
Good sax!

I like it when Bill plays someone I like, Lucinda Williams in this case and follows it with someone I am not familar with, this being Jon Redfern here,
sounds good, feels good
Love it about 9

If you like this style you could listen to jazz artists like Paul Desmond. I tried to upload one track from him sounding more or less this relaxed and chill, but it was immediately "sorry".

Second listen. 8 to 9. Amazing start of the song.
Just change my 9 to 10 !, just good feeling music
I became very interested in the work of Jon Redfern because of this song.
It was pretty hard to get his music, but I managed to get one album. It was not worth listening to. This song stands out.
Still a 9 for me.
Discovered here thanks to Bill a few years ago.

Great song!

Upped to a 9, gets a lot of play but  I never seem to tire of it.
I bought this one... but my Lovebird screeched at the other cuts with singing.{#Eh}
Still a 9 for me.
And this is the moment that you notice the musical taste of your collegues. Mine hate this song and I can't understand why. This is almost a perfect song.
Loving that sax. damp, sexual, brilliant.
Still deserves a 9 for me.
Merci Bill pour m'avoir fait découvrir ce sublime morceau.

Sums up my mood this sunny day...

One can -almost- believe that Spring/Summer is here... Almost...

Nice mellow music to slide into Friday... Thanks

One of the best songs I ever discovered here on RP...I still get chills at the "where are you now" line in the chorus.

Perfect song to make me look up from my computer, stare out the window at the snow and cold, and just...breathe.

Love this one. Upon relistening I must note there are a lot of similarities to Zappa's work on Grand Wazoo, especially Blessed Relief.

An old post here 'BikeCoachDave' but wanted to acknowledge your thread.  It might be awhile before we hear from Jon again, but I've not lost hope in his ability to achieve amazing things once again.  He's currently on a well deserved break with his family and living life East of London City in the UK.

Another dismal day in Alderney, listening to the fabulous sax just lifts me up again, the G & T helps too. Greetings from the little rock in the English Channel x
Love it. Vibe and aesthetics remind me of John Martyn. Let's hear more from this guy!

Sometimes I like it when a sax player gets that raw "spitty" sound instead of cleaning out the valve.
makes you happy, sip a little wine and watch the clouds roll by{#Cheers}
I love the sun, too, Mr. Redfern.  Thanks a bunch for this mellow piece of chill-music.
When this song is played, I stop what I am doing and turn to the sky with my arms outstretched trying to take in the sun's warmth.....

Funny thing is that I am inside most of the time when I hear it.  {#Whistle}

I never knew this lovely lady outside of the comments she left behind for us all, but I miss her. Somehow, I think she is here in Oregon with us...and also with you, wherever you are.
Beautiful song. The extended intro reminds me of Frank Zappa's instrumental work on Grand Wazoo. Then comes the vocals....
I love this song...I love this song...
A rare artist in our area. I'm sad.
Rich, warm, inviting song.  Thanks to Bill for another introduction to likely wonderful album!  {#Daisy}
Still loving this song!

Bumped into Mr. Redfern in Canary Wharf in London recently.  Happily married with a new born son and life appears to be treating him well.....
Lush
Nice tenor sax.
This one caught my attention. Had to go find it on MOG and give it another listen. Totally diggin' the vibes playing in the background. Giving it a 7 for now.

I saw I was at an 8 and was drawn to looking at the reviews because I always love when this comes on......had to boost it to at least a 9, still a hair short of "perfection" for me.
a 10. still a 10.
Lady nostalgia passes by
with her typical cool pose
I look at her and she just knows all
questions I have for her
She looks at me, disdainfully.
Turns around, and lets me
see the phrase in blue neon
stitched on the back of her black airy dress
"I do not know" ...
Nudged it up to a 9 - Great vibe
Remove the saxophone ear-rape and I would think this song great.
I seem to recall reading a Victorian murder story by this man? There must 2 Jon Redferns out there.
