I remember holdin' on to you
All them long and lonely nights I put you through
Somewhere in there I'm sure I made you cry
But I can't remember if we said goodbye.

But I recall all of them nights down in Mexico
One place I may never go in my life again
Was I just off somewhere or just too high
But I can't remember if we said goodbye.

I only miss you every now and then
Like the soft breeze blowin' up from the Caribbean
Most Novembers I break down and cry
Cause I can't remember if we said goodbye.

But I recall all of them nights down in Mexico
One place I will never go in my life again
Was I just off somewhere or just too high
But I can't remember if we said goodbye.

No, I can't remember if we said goodbye.
Goodbye, goodbye...

"Most Novembers I break down and cry

Oh my, Emmylou.  I've been in love with your vocals since I first heard you.
Really enjoyed Trio, too.
Such a great album!!!
Her masterpiece.

The best U2 albums, Willie's Teatro, Gabriel's best, and more. And most certainly this.
Hey Bill, how about playing songs from Lanois first 2 albums and Teatro?

Not to mention his production of Dylan....

What a great talent

Wonderful.  Better lyrics would get it a ten. ELH--our national treasure.

Better lyrics?
Some of Earle's best right there!

This song always reminds me of the "one that got away".. I miss you GH!
I can't listen - it's so moving - it brings it all back to me

This whole album is a desert island masterpiece. Thanks for playing!
Man, I sure hope I'm not in that island.
Is it just me - but sounds like she recorded this at the bottom of a lift shaft?
Makes you think ... in a calm nostalgic way.
I had this rated pretty high, finding it kind of booooooring.. maybe I am in a different mood today?
good old Emmylou - fresh like ever!
I don't much care for "Wrecking Ball" itself--it strikes me as a touch whiney--but I sure like this one.
Steve Earle, Emmylou, and Daniel Lanois...HOME RUN!
for some reason, this one always sounds like a christmas song to me. :-k
I love this track - gives me chill bumps. From one of Emmylou's best CDs.
I can't help to love this great Daniel Lanois sound. Thanks, Daniel, long may you run ...
Steve Earle songwriting with Emmylou vocals - just doesn't get much better than this.
Just saw her last night at the Zoo with Patty Griffin and Buddy Miller. Most excellent!
Emmylou is a true goddess. Love her "Trio" album with Dolly Parton and Linda Ronstadt. The base on this song has an energizing rumble. Had to crank it on my first listening. Feels great to listen to this one.
Emmylou Harris' "Wrecking Ball" was one of the first songs I heard on RP. Thanks for intro'ing me to her.
Simply gorgeous.
Wow. I've never underestood why Emmylou did not achieve the kind of acclaim she really deserves. Maybe because she is perceived as too country, but she really has had a diverse career. Her vocals on this are just so heartrending.
Steve Earle is an amazing songwriter.

AMEN!
Haven't heard anything by her in a long time. This was most excellent!
