Thanks for the kind thoughts.  It's already different and he is already missed. 

Never had to take any of my cats for that ride before and make that decision.

Amazing how such a little thing can take up a whole big space.

Bokey was a good kitty.

We'll be taking Bokey in this afternoon to get that last shot.  He has cancer and has been on a steady decline the past several weeks.

He's only about seven the best we can figure and we have had the pleasure of his company for the past 5 1/2 years.  His life was very troubled before we got him.  He has one eye and his voice box was damaged leaving him silent.  He could sure work up a good purr storm though.  We developed a pretty good communication level despite his inability to express himself and he has a pretty good understanding of many basic words to find out what he needs.

His previous owner was going to shoot him rather than give him the care to put him back together.  A lady who worked at our Vet's office actually went to her house and snatched him away before the deed was done as we came to know.  He never wanted to go outside once we brought him to our home.  Outside must have been very traumatic for him.  We could leave the front door open and he would not even go near it.  He probably figured he would be locked out if he went outside and not let back in or worse.  We just hope that we gave him a good five more years to live a comfortable life and shared many happy times with him.  He didn't play much or do much having only one eye.  His favorite toy was a wadded up thermal paper cash register receipt and he would play vigorous cat hockey with it all over the house.  And when he was done with it, he would deposit it in his water bowl for us to find later and give him new water.

He is our second cat since we have been together.  Our first cat, Tobin passed at home and is buried at my Mom's house.  I'm going to try and give him a proper burial as well but the weather is just not really great right now with snow the next couple of days.  He deserves more than just being left at the Vet's office.

 We really are not picture people.  All we have are cell phone pics.  Here's Bokey in some better times.  He did sleep in the bathtub quite a bit.
