All together as a band, I would be surprised if they ever played again...though as individuals, I'm sure they will continue to play live.

So far I've listened to the 7/4 and 7/5 Chicago shows, and 6/28 show in Santa Clara. The 6/28 show is hands down my favorite. Taking a break before hitting the other two.

According to the
Saturday Night At The Fillmore FB page, this poster advertises the very first Grateful Dead show in San Francisco 49 years ago today.
This "Poster From The Past" marks the very first appearance by one of San Francisco's very favorite bands at the time and even still today. The Grateful Dead played at the Fillmore Auditorium back on this day 49 years ago in 1966. Goodness, it doesn't seem all that long ago! Along with the Dead, the Quicksilver Messenger Service who got top billing on the poster, and the Mothers joined in an evening of what was a incredible night of music and dance. The central image here is a fairly simple one of a mushroom shape surrounded by circles. Most of the lettering is on the mushroom. This is BG Fillmore number #9 in the series created by the legendary rock artist Wes Wilson who, by the way, did almost all of the first 60 or so posters for Bill Graham. This one was printed two times.

On May 5, 1965 'The Warlocks,' who would later be known as the 'Grateful Dead,' played their first show, at Magoo's Pizza Parlor in Menlo Park, California

Cool...Indeed so many, as P said, weren't as lucky. It is going to rock...Hope a cool front blows through.
